Friendly host and a pleasant and adequate stay. Good parking facilities. It is a nice 10 minute walk to Main Street restaurants and shops which we enjoyed. Our room was a bit dark and perhaps ready for a refresh.

Hi Gaye K, Thank you for your review of La Rochelle Motel. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are sorry you found your room to be a little dark - we tend to let the foliage in the native gardens to the rear grow out a little during summer to provide some much needed shade,...

Our room wasn't very big but had a nice feel to it. Balcony into the bush above the stream was a nice touch. The hosts were very friendly. Reception offers free books and DVDs to use during your stay. WiFi in the rooms is free. Couple possible improvements: * Improve water pressure. We were on the first floor and the...

Hi Tomas, Thanks for the great review. The balcony is always a nice place to relax and unwind. The showers are all main pressured with each room having it's own hot water cylinder so pressure is not usually an issue. Akaroa often has water restrictions so minimise our water consumption the showers have flow restrictors in place. This can mean...

We had a lovely stay at La Rochelle. Our 2 bedroom apartment had very comfortable beds and was extremely clean. The owners, Alex and Jane really care about their guests. They were so helpful and obliging when we made a last minute change to our plans . We really appreciated their assistance and would recommend La Rochelle.

We needed a ground floor room, and rang the Motel, who were really helpful and rearranged things so we could get a King room downstairs. The room was a good size with a small kitchenette and nice bathroom, the king bed comfortable.Internet free but a little intermittent. A little sitting area outside overlooking a small stream made for a lovely...

Great place to relax and unwind. Unit clean and spacious. Very good small kitchen with the unit, with well stocked glasses, crockery, etc. Short walk to town and beach, plus numerous cafes and restaurants. Plus the drive around the various roads of Banks Peninsula provide numerous photo opportunities and delightful beaches and scenery.

Hi Ken, Thank for reviewing our motel and for the positive feedback. We agree there is nothing better at the end of a hard day on holiday than a glass of bubbles and a spa bath. So you don't miss out we do recommend booking especially during summer and weekends although people plans can change so we do regularly get...

We have stayed twice at La Rochelle, in June 2008 and October 2016, each time for two nights. Our current hosts, Alex and Jane, were very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with good kitchen facilities. There are plenty of eating establishments nearby, or it is an easy walk (or drive) down to the waterfront, where there...

Loved opening the ranch-slider to the deck and listening to the stream running by through the native trees. So peaceful. Hosts were excellent and so helpful. Accommodation was very good. Handy walking to everything. Would love to have stayed longer. P.S. Don't forget to visit the hotel across the road.
