Jane's cottage in her amazing garden is fabulous as are the views to Takamatua Bay. The cottage is stylishly furnished and includes nice touches including premium toiletries, chocolates on our bedside table, fresh biscuits, plunger coffee and a wonderful continental breakfast that was left for us in the fridge. It is a short drive into Akaroa Township for lunch, dinner if you are...

We stayed one night at L'Abri - two couples. Linda was managing the property and provided a warm welcome as well as advice on local attractions. Our rooms were most comfortable, with lots of attention to detail. Bedding was superb and the bathroom could not be faulted. But the top attraction was the superb breakfast Linda prepared, one of the...

We came away feeling rested and revived. Having been welcomed by the lovely hostess, jane we were then shown to our beautifully appointed room with a spectacular view to the water and hills beyond. Beautiful gardens. Delicious breakfast. We were surprised to even have a Nespresso machine in our room. All in all could not fault. We chose a room...

Akaroa is amazing and our host was kind and warm. Only let down really was the cottage which is a studio separate from the house, fabulous! which is furnished well tho is needing a tidy up and modern up. Felt for the price and the traditional, continental breakfast was over priced. Otherwise no complaints, just our thoughts and feedback. Oh...

If you stay in or near Akaroa, don't miss Jane Cook's B&B. She is a gracious host, staying up after 11 pm on our first night to greet us. Her chickens provide fresh eggs, and she makes her own muesli, among other things. Nice views from her rooms, with outside porches. And some of the paintings are her own work....

Having just arrived in NZ at the start of our five-week road trip, L'Abri was the perfect first stop. The garden cottage was ideal and Jane could not have been a more pleasant or helpful host. Great location just a couple of Km from Akaroa.

Beautiful accommodation with great views. Lovely breakfast and would have easily stayed a couple more nights just to relax in a home from home. Jane was a superb hostess making you feel really welcome. Great place to stay

Once again we stayed at Jane's lovely B&B in Takamatua Bay. As ever the hospitality was second to none and a real home away from home for us; we enjoyed a peaceful time, with an amazing view and wonderful breakfast in the morning. Local salmon with freshly laid eggs from Jane's flock of hens.

L'Abri is a jem of guesthouse. Spotlessly clean, wonderful breakfasts and nothing is too much trouble for Jane the owner. Thank you Jane for a very nice three day holiday. Readers requiring accommodation in Akaroa will not be disappointed with L'Abri. HIGHLY RECOMENDED.

"L'abri" means shelter in French, and here in this luxurious B&B one feels completely sheltered from the outside world, with supremely comfortable beds and a soothing restful view of the sea. Very calm setting in Takamatua, a few minutes away from the township of Akaroa, transport can be organised to the many quality restaurants in the evening. Jane your charming...
