Perfect location with stunning environment and fresh air. You can hear the waterfall sound in quiet time. Friendly staff. Great facilities and can utilised the laundry service when you are run out of clean clothes like us :)
Valley hostel is halfway up the main street and udeal for the station. The view from my room was absolutely amazing. A short walk along the main steet and the whole valley opens up in front of you.
The hostel is clean with shared amenities.
What I liked:
1. Excellent location very close to the train station - you can catch early trains without getting up too early, which is really important if you plan to visit crowded locations like Jungfraujoch.
2. The room was quiet, no noise from the...More
Stayed in double room w shared bath. Very clean every where. Used shared kitchen which has everything you need. Little grocery store 3 minutes away, but they have short hours. Beautiful view out on balcony. Good wifi. Quiet
I was a bit nervous about staying at Valley Hostel. The reviews are a bit up and down and I just wasn't sure it was right for a family but I was very pleasantly surprised. We were travelling as a family of four with two...More

Valley Hostel is a lovely little place. Chalet 3(Is that the private room that'll fit 4?) should be just fine. I stayed with Mom and Dad , both over 60 ..and Dad nearly 70 there.. last August and loved it. Its a shared kitchen and shared bathroom - and you can store your food in baskets in the kitchen. It gets a little crowded in the kitchen at times :) - but really its not a big deal. The bathroom is downstairs and that too is very very clean always - just like the rest of Switzerland.
Lauterbrunnen is the perfect spot to stay, one because it has so many great waterfalls - one of which you can see from the Valley Hostel itself and is beautifully lit up at night. The other cause it is sort of at the base of the Alps, and you can take different routes into the Alps from here - its sort of a central point.
Murren is nice too, a lovely little village that we passed through once, but I'd definitely stay at Valley Hostel in Lauterbrunnen. Go on to Rick Steves's site - Trip Reports section - and search for "Arvind" on that page. I have a brief account of my trip in Switzerland - maybe that helps :)
Whatever you do, enjoy yourself - don't fret too much about where you'll stay in Switzerland - it's all equally nice, just expensive :). And Valley Hostel I think is the cheapest of them all. Yep I did all that research too :)
