A big fat zero

Booked for four days in November.. Arrived and all closed up. no notice on the door apart from a telephone number that was not answered. Lucky for us a low season so managed to find another hotel. They looked on line and saw due to unforeseen circumstances we are closed until April. we had no email or telephone call. Trying to get a refund.

Lovely small hotel, gorgeous pool shame about building work

Rooms: a little tired, damaged fittings, lots and lots of pans for the two ringed job, no sharp knife, chopping board or scissors, cups are all tiny. Beds comfy and rooms plenty warm enough. Didn’t use air con/heating as gave off weird smell. Sadly we were in a room that was right next to the building work - diggers and excavators going from 8am to 8pm made it really noisy in the balcony. It was quieter when the doors were closed but that wasn’t ideal. Sunday was luckily quiet. Asked if could move but despite half the rooms on the river side bring empty we weren’t able to move. Cleaning: irratic, but once I asked for clean towels the ladies on the desk made sure they were replaced. Towels: pool towels are available for a 10E cash deposit which means once you surrender them you’ll be left with 40E. We didn’t bother. Gym: very tired looking but functional Jacuzzi: couldn’t find the warm one, just the cold one next to the pool which wasn’t very bubbly. Pool: really clean, unheated as most are I think and so chilly in October. Beautiful setting only slightly marred by building work noise. Boys loved having pool to themselves! Plenty sun beds if only had been warm enough to lie on them a bit more 😃😃 Such a lovely setting and wonderful to see hoopoes on the lawn next to it. Restaurant: used this on our arrival for a very late dinner. All 4 veggies in our party enjoyed their meals. Had buffet breakfast on the first morning before made it to the spar - excellent buffet breakfast. Beach: absolutely amazing, private hotel just is really convenient and driver was really friendly. Cafe further up the beach not really worth the walk unless it’s chilly and they serve nice hot choc and coffee 😃 Undecided as to whether would return - would have to try to get a river side room!…

We believed we'd booked an apartment for 3 nights with bed & breakfast (it was pretty expensive even though the booking had been made in February 2019 -months before late September when we had expected prices to reduce.) On arrival we were told that the booking was merely b&b.. the flat was clean & spacious at the far end of the complex - we are 78/80 and it was a hike to reach the restaurant & pool,gym area. There was no welcome pack of essentials (we've been in numerous b&bs, guest houses, even self catering plus hotels where in the 3 there has been milk, bread, spread, jam, washing up liquid plus drying up cloths, dish washer tablets and several bathroom toiletries. R101 had none of these - when we enquired we were told "people might have allergies. buy things yourself - we have supermarkets you know"!!!! The manager was not available to comment but we made the necessary purchases with poor grace. The main pool area was immaculate but spoiled by having continous "musack" played. The real swimming pool was a peaceful relief. No complaints about the way the complex was supervised and maintained and there was a free boat trip to the adjacent island which was right on the sea. The restaurant was poorly organised with numerous lines of people crossing over to get coffee at one end, fruit yoghurt etc in the middle and cereals at the other end . Chaos. Unfortunately there was little provision for vegetarians and the cooked food was always barely tepid (not very appetising) - I lived on cereal and rolls/ Even the coffee was bitter and we do love continental coffee usually. Desperately disappointed by the lack of attention to detail although the staff were charming (and powerless!). The lighting design of the apartment (which can't be undone now) is weird - no overhead lamps in the large sitting area and one side light in the area used as a second bedroom....…

Perfect September Break

Came here for a short break in September, ideal weather and not too busy. Hotel is very clean, only negative was the pool was freezing! Food in the restaurant is very good, lots of actives as well such as football and volleyball.

14hrs stay Good.

Good apartment overlooking river. Pool area good. Staff good . We were left-catering so didn't use resturant. Supermarket short walk along with good eating places. Building work didn't effect us. We will be going back next year for another 2wks.
