Apart from a lovely quiet location, clean and comfortable rooms, the excellent dining experience was definitely a highlight of my stay. The smoked salmon with vegetables was my personal favorite! There is also a great choice of wines and lovely service!

Located in Gorny Park, hotel Batory offers solid 3 stars accommodation with free wifi, breakfast, and parking. Several restaurants are within walking distance, rental bikes available at the lower station of chair lift. Rent a bike and visit Slovakia for lunch, or go rafting or kayaking on Dunajec river.

Hotel Batory is beautifully located in a park, a 15-20 minute walk from the city center. Staff is very helpful and friendly, unfortunately, with one or two exceptions (who were fluent in German), knowledge of English is almost non-existent. The rooms are spacious and so is the clean bathroom. Breakfast is simple, but healthy and tasteful. We had supper, which...

We stayed three nights in a four bedded family room. It's located in a nice area above what is a nice town. The room was large enough. I paid for faster speed wifi (the slow speed is free) but couldn't connect to it and got a refund. Breakfast was great. Staff were helpful. Interesting building. Not cheap but there doesn't...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Batory Hotel was built by Jozef Szalay in 1874. It was one of the first houses in Szczawnica to be heated by stoves. In 1909, the famous Polish historical writer Henryk Sienkiewicz stayed at the Batory Hotel during his last visit to the spa. His first visit to Szczawnica had been recorded in 1868 when he was 22 years old. In 1879, he stayed in Szczawnica for the second time; at that time he was already a renowned journalist and writer. "Gazeta Lwowska", when announcing Sienkiewicz's lectures in Szczawnica (on August 2) and in Krynica (on August 15) called him "a writer of exceptional talent." The third and the last visit of Sienkiewicz to the Szczawnica spa was recorded in 1909, when, being a very famous writer, he stayed at the Batory Villa with his daughter. The Batory has served a representative function in the spa for many years. Here have stayed various VIPs who came to partake of mineral waters: members of the regional Galicja Parliament, representatives of governmental delegations, government ministers etc. ... more   less
