Polo Orchid resort is a premium property available In the Sohra locality.
It provides different type of rooms with different facilities such as normal rooms, cottages, rooms with pools etc.
The property location is awesome from where you can have a view of seven sister falls from the front side.
The rooms are clean but I experienced bit foul smell may be due to some faulty drain construction which is may Be an issue in that particular room.
The ovalshape beds require some improvement as these are bit uncomfortable.
They provide all the bathroom amenities and different type of teas, coffee along with milk hocolate and dark chocolates which were awesome.
They provide complementary snacks and tea at 4pm to 5pm. In the same area its having pool, chess, carrom, table tennis for refreshment.
The Shohra house which is the dinning area have buffet system in the dinner and lunch. The lunch and dinner consists of different type of food (both veg and nonveg) with one dish of local tastes which is delicious. During dinner the live music where the you will find hindi and Hollywood songs Nd those were so awesome that you will never find any differences in comparision with the original song.
The hospitality there is is awesome. Thanks to Albert, Sitalin, Tynraibor for the hospitality, the songs you sang and the introduction to the khasi religion briefly. At reception Jenny helped us a lot
The breakfast is having several food options where u can have a nice start to the day and the timing is from 7am to 10am.
The awesome thing I found here that if you have taken any food and you are unable to complete it they will pack it and you can take it as parcel without wasting it.
The common swimming pool is clean and cleaned on regular basis and accessible from 6am- 6pm. It's the place where you can have the fun inside water with the view of seven sisters falls.
The only thing I found they are lagging that there is no drop and pickup fascilities. Polo orchid should provide atleast drop and pickup from atleast sohra taxi stand.

Awesome service 24×7, Staff is always ready to serve you in every aspect. Personalised bornefire and live singing arrangements was done for us on our request. Sita's (singer) voice is comparable to Shreya Ghosal. Pawan was managing the oveall functions and staff in a very efficient manner. Pradeep is leading housekeeping department is the best man to approach for any need. Jacob is manging the restaurant is very polite and makes you feel at home. Food quality and taste is very nice. Somnath Pujari is the spa manager, he is very polite and open to everyone .spa service is excellent and for senior citizens who needs spa service but are unable to walk are given the spa service in room. Spa service makes you sleepy and release all tension inside. This is the service which we were expecting and got the same inside spa.
All staff members are warm nature guy and polite also. Special thanks to Pawan, Rajeev, Pradeep, Somnath Pujari, Jacob, Roman, Sita (singer) . This stay at the resort will remain in our memory forever.

A gem of a luxury resort in the lap of the majestic East Khasi hills in Cherrapunji. Polo Orchid has got everything right starting with the location, overlooking the 7 sister falls, the facilities including their hallmark infinity swimming pool, lawns, recreation rooms, activities and topped up with great service. The rooms in the new block come with 5 star amenities including a balcony with a direct view of the falls, bathtubs or splash pools makes it an ideal leisure or honeymoon destination. Good property under bad management. Stayed at Sohra Family Suite (#1108) on 17th and 18th November. Very bad maintenance of toilet. water coming out from shower enclosure to outside the enclosure while taking bath. had to place 2 large towels on floor to arrest water from spreading. The overhead shower mechanism does not work. No actions even after complaining. Management is indifferent. Even for Rs.10000 paid for room upgradation, no money receipt provided

“Why Cherrapunji!” — was a question I kept getting asked when after 4 years I decided to take my family on a long overdue holiday. After 4 days, we knew we had made the right decision as we had a most wonderful holiday in Cherrapunji. The icing on the cake was the resort we stayed in. The Polo Orchid Resort. Beautiful resort and wonderful people.
Our vacation in Cherrapunji started with Mr. Faster picking us up from the Shillong airport. Mr. Faster was with us and driving us around on all days to the beautiful spots that Cherrapunji and nearby villages had to offer. He made our trip very memorable with his courteous behaviour and engaging conversation sharing snippets of information about tourist spots, local culture, customs and traditions. Helpful in every way.
Our breakfast and dinner were always at the resort and for two reasons. The food, local and international, was great. Secondly and more importantly, the exceptional staff we met during our meals. The staff were exceptionally polite, courteous and helpful. LaikiLang, Pynshai, Banri and all the F&B staff made our experience wonderful. This combined with live music every evening by Albert and Sita. Both of you have such lovely voices and the songs you sang were awesome. Ashim – as I mentioned to you during my stay, you have a lovely team.
The invisible housekeeping team ensured that our room was always done up spotless when we came back tired.
Rajeev and his front office team ensured that we checked in with ease and also had tips about the places to visit and what to do
We checked in as a guest and checked out as friends.
Overall an excellent experience.
Thank you Polo Orchid Resort team for the wonderful hospitality and we want to come back again … soon.

Cherrapunji has limited number places to stay and Polo Orchid Resort is perhaps among the best options. It offers an excellent view of The Sevens Sisters Waterfall and surrounding valley. The property itself is quite beautifully maintained and has plenty of open spaces to sit in a secluded corner and enjoy the serenity of surroundings. Service in restaurant is bit slow but it was compensated with excellent taste and quality of food. Restaurant's terrace is perhaps the best place to enjoy a drink in the evening. We booked the Orchid Room and that was perhaps the only downside of our experience. Orchid Rooms are located just behind the reception area with very limited space and furnished with basic amenities. There is no feeling of privacy. Polo Orchid is a very good Resort but my recommendation is to go for at least Dew Drop Cottage if you want to have an enjoyable experience.

My stay at Polo Orchid Hotel in Cherrapunji was a mixed experience.
Welcome - While the initial welcome was cordial, the subsequent interactions with the staff, particularly Mary, were less than satisfactory. Her rude and dismissive attitude was a contrast to the warm hospitality one expects from a hotel of this caliber. She was not ready to understand our problems.
Rooms - The biggest disappointment was the condition of the room we were initially assigned. For a hefty price of 18,000 rupees per night, the broken wooden flooring was a major safety hazard. Though we were exhausted, we couldn't ignore such a glaring issue. Thankfully, Pradeep from housekeeping was understanding and promised to rectify the situation.
Resolution - The following day, we were shifted to a much more comfortable and modern room, thanks to the kind intervention of the front desk manager, Radium. To our surprise, Pradeep had even decorated the room, making it a pleasant retreat after the initial ordeal. The hotel's redeeming features were the exceptional service provided by Jacob from the restaurant and Somnath from the spa. Their dedication and professionalism helped restore our faith in the brand and left us with a positive impression.
My Final Verdict- Overall, while the Polo Orchid Hotel has the potential to offer a memorable stay, our experience was marred by inconsistencies in the service and the initial room condition, the hotel needs to address the shortcomings to ensure a consistently satisfying experience for all its guests.

I recently stayed at the Polo Orchid Resort in Cherrapunji and had a pleasant experience overall. However, there were some aspects that did not meet my expectations for a premium stay.
We opted for the highest level category room, the Misty Villa, by paying a premium. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the expectations. The room's furniture, bed linen, and flooring were not up to the standard expected of a premium room. This was the main reason for the reduced rating.
The food at the resort was good, with a variety of options that were well-prepared and delicious.
The service was excellent. The staff were attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to ensure a comfortable stay.
The hotel offers stunning views, which are definitely a highlight of the stay.
Despite the shortcomings in the room quality, the overall experience was positive. If the resort improves the quality of its premium rooms, it would easily warrant a higher rating.

You can take photos of the resort except the pool. Pool is solely restricted to the residents. Their usp is that infinity pool and they dont allow anyone except the residents.
There are more places to choose from in the Lad Ryngud area.
