Detailed Reviews
Hard to find but once you get there it really nice..spacious rooms, nice kitchen, friendly staff. Cant say much more about hostel, but Pecs was very nice..perhaps a lttle over rated.. but I stayed one night and that was enough.Unfortunately the opera house wasn't open that night..
In conclusion, the Joker is a nice place to stay for a very low price

This hostel was very clean. We had an early morning train so it was only about a 2-3 minute walk to the station. It's a bit further into the town centre though. Also be aware that there is no air conditioning so it can be a bit sticky in the summer. It has a pub downstairs which also doesn't have air conditioning (or ice!!). Great price. Would recommend.

Very close to the train station, it's an easy choice for a first time visitor. Comfort was on a good level with the price which is very low even for single person rooms. If possible, ask for a top floor room, it has a better view and a bath tub instead of a normal shower for the same price.

Despite accomodation was booked over the phone, time of arrival was agreed on and guest phoned half an hour before arrival at own cost, still all of these things were not enough for Reception to see guests at Hostel.....

A large group of us visited in May. The hostel was clean with compact but adequate bathroom.
Those who had the right number of people for the room had plenty of space although some, who had bunk bed rooms did complain that the mattresses were uncomfortable.
Where an extra bed was required it caused problems. I had a double room with an extra bed. The campbed provided took up any space so when it was up we couldn't access the wardrobe, drawer or even have the table up.
It was a verry hot week and although there was no A.C. the staff did give us a large fam when we asked.
Breakfast was served in the bar below and when they found people weren't eating the salami and cheese with lemon tea they changed the menus for us and were really accommodating.
The kitchen was clean and spacious with fridge, tea and coffee and milk provided, a small hob and toaster.
Staff didn't speak great English but were very helpful and even printed my flight tickets for me.
The Joker is on the outskirts of Pecs close to the train station and 10 to 15 min walk to the centre.
Basic but perfectly suitable and well worth the price.

All in all, clean and proper. A strecth away from the city center by foot (10 minutes perhaps), but very close, only a couple of hundred meters, to the train station. For us who traveled by train the location was perect. I'd rather have a short walk with our luggage between the hostel and train station than a long walk with our luggage to be very near the city center. Very clean, nice kitchen which guests can use. Coffee, tea is free.
Wi-fi is free and works well. Beds are comfortable, and our bathroom was really nice. Much nicer than your ordinary hostel/budget place. Wall-to-wall carpets usually is a hit-and-miss thing, and if I can I avoid it at all costs, but when the rooms are cleaned this thoroughly, I don't at all mind it. It's cozy even.
Pecs is SUCH a nice and peaceful city; and Joker Hostel is perfect for the budget traveler.

We spent 2 nights in Joker Hostel last year as festival goers. Our room was newly renovated, very clean and comfortable. We had only basic facilities, but that was just fine for sleeping.
The location is very good, quite close to the railway station and not very far from the city center.
Staff members were very friendly and exceptionally helpful. If visiting Pécs or going to Orfű Festival, it can be a perfect place to stay.
