After visiting the city of Pécs with friends, we stayed one night in the hotel/panzió. We also had diner in the adjacent restaurant.
The hotel and restaurant are built on a slope at the outer part of the city. The restaurant's terrace offers a stunning view over eastern part of the city. You can have the same view from your hotel room, provided you book the right room...
The restaurant is Hungarian cuisine, of an above-average quality. The personnel is friendly and helpful. Foreign languages (English, German) are spoken very limited, as almost everywhere in Hungary.
The place is beautifully laid out in full traditional Hungarian style. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable.

One drawback, that may be essential: There are stairs to be taken, which may be too long and/or steep. There is NO elevator!

We enjoyed our super cool stay these little authentic wine houses. The location is perfect, quiet and has a view over the city of Pecs. The rooms are small but big enough to stay in. Lovely furniture and decorations all over the property. Service was excellent and the food tasteful.

The hotel is located a few kilometres out of town on a hillside with fabulous views. I loved the cute room decor with carved wooden furniture, traditional ornaments and embroidered fabrics. There was a mini bar, phone and tv (Hungarian channels only). The bathroom was quite dated and the shower was a pain with no curtain or screen but everything was very clean and there was plenty of hot water for a bath. There is a large restaurant with great views. We had a nice dinner of traditional dishes such as venison stew, wild boar and roasted goose with red cabbage. Breakfast was decent. Plenty of parking on the premises. From the hotel you can do a short walk on a trail to the top of a hill with a view point. We enjoyed our stay and found it good value.

You could put this great hotel anywhere in the world, and it would still get top ratings. The only thing you could never beat is the price.
Be sure to book either a room with panorama view, or as my wife and I did, we took a baungalow with terrace and an unforgettable view of Pecs.
Bottom line: The Bagolyvar by itself is worth a trip to Pecs.
Pecs itself is a charming Hungarian city with a rich cultural heritage,

To start with, unfortunatly I can not leave the review in my own native language (hungarian) cause Tripadvisor does not let me...:-(

Our wedding was on 23.08.2013 here in Bagolyvar. I have to say without any doubt, that this was the best choice for us to get married herw! Marika, the owner is really professional and nothing too much trouble for her. She organised and helped us to organise the wedding, cause its not easy from abroad... The service and food were superb. The waiters were funny and were always there for us! The food was amaizing, the whole family from both side said, that they did not taste food like this a long time! Perfect wedding in the perfect place! Thanks Marika and the team in Bagolyvar!!!!
On top, the surrounding is fantastic as well and the small hotel is famous and fab!!!

For a short one night stay, we chose this place, unfortunatly a bit outside of the city centre.
Welcoming and smiley team.
Apart from that, the room was very nicely decorated and confortable.
The restaurant was also nice, with a terrasse overlooking the city.
Breakfast is a big buffet, which leaves you full for the morning.

The best part is the view. The hotel complex is rustic and very beautifully decorated in every detail. A beautiful garden with blooming flowers over all. The inn is more than 3 km from the city center and you should find the easiest way to drive up as many of the options are very steep and challenging and many of the streets are in a bad shape. The young man in the reception could only a very limited english. In the contrary to our booking there were no balcony in our room but a nice view over the town. Also the room was beautifully and traditionally decorated. In summer you appreciate light proof curtains. Now the room became bright early in the morning and wokes you up. A decent breakfast even though the personal that we met, only spoke hungarian. You can order omelett or fried eggs, which are not on a show.

We spend 3 nights at Bagolyvar Inn and loved every minute. My father grew up and Pecs and hadn't been back in 15 years. He was very happy with our stay. Bagolyvar is an adorable inn just outside the city center. We were able to take the bus or long walk into town. The inn in on top of city and on a vineyard, views were stunning! We also dined at the restaurant which was very good and traditional Hungarian. Rooms were clean and breakfast was included. Probably our favorite accommodations from the trip!

A very clean and interesting hotel with a lot of autentic elements and amazing wood work in the rooms and hall ways. Beautiful view over Pecs from the Hotel and just next to wine fields.
The breakfast was not something special. There was no hanger for the shower, so you have to hold it in your hands.
