From our standpoint the hotel is ideally situated as the benefits of being a couple blocks off the heavily touristed areas far outweigh the couple minutes it takes to walk to the main square. It's also convenient to public transportation as we walked to both the bus and train stations. If you're coming in on the bus all that's required is to cross a street, cut through the Arpad shopping center, cross another street and go around to the other side of the block and there's the hotel. The train station is a little further requiring about a fifteen-minute walk through a nice neighborhood.
The desk staff was great - all had good English and were very helpful in getting us oriented. The room and public areas of the hotel were immaculately clean. We especially appreciated the beds which were very firm - but not "hard". There is a difference. In fact, the bed was one of the best we encountered in stays at several places over the course of a month. The breakfast is what I would classify as "Continental Plus" as it included all the usual stuff plus meats, cheese, cereal, yogurts and all the orange juice and coffee you can drink. Overall, just a great experience.
With no previous booking and with only a couple of suggestions taken from Lonely Planet, we were wondering where we would spend the night as we dragged our suitcases towards the town center.
As we entered Hotel Diana and we were welcomed by a very friendly person at reception (who spoke very fluent English) we realized we had gone to the right place.
We were offered a room on the first floor. It had a decent size, with pine furniture and private bathroom. Everything was very clean. Air-conditioning was optional but we did not require it.
They served a good breakfast in a room decorated with local crafts.
The facilities were as good as those from other budget hotels we stayed in. However what really stood out was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.
In one occasion they heard that we were planning to travel to Szeged. Without us asking for any information, they searched for and provided us with bus times to that city.
We are not sure why this small hotel is not listed in TripAdvisor but we certainly recommend it to other fellow travelers.
A big plus that you'll find every attraction in 5-15 minutes of walking from here and a nearby shopping mall to satisfy your needs ( <1 minute).
The railway station is approximately ~15 minutes from here and the bus station isn't farther either.
I got a single room for couple hours of sleep.
Once i entered the room i thought i will not able to sleep, but it was very late and i was very very tired. Sleep yes, but the room is not worth the 30 Euro....nothing
The bed is extra small, like verything in this room. The pathroom is difficult to move in and its all old and broken. The room needs an Urgent renovation...
Great value for money, nice rooms, no too fancy, the location is one of the best, walking distance from everywhere for the Pecs Tourist.
Definitely returning for my next trip to Pecs.
