Truly a lovely Hotel. I just spent four nights here and found the staff to be extremely friendly and accommodating. The room, itself, was large and the bed offered excellent support. I slept well every night. The included breakfast included hot items such as ham & eggs, scrambled eggs, roasted bacon, sausage. I have no real serious complaints about this hotel. It's just outside the city center walls but you no more than ten minutes walk from the city center.

This 3-star hotel is a very good 3-star option in rural Hungary. The rooms are large, have air-conditioning (vital in Summer), and freshly renovated bathrooms. The beds are comfy, although they are all singles - so no double or king-sized beds. Strangely, they seem to have purchased sheets that don't fully fit the beds and the pillows are horrible. Breakfast is OK with a selection of cereals, yoghurt, bread rolls, coffee, tea and cooked breakfast options. Fruit was nowhere to be seen and the juice was heavily watered down. The service was excellent and always delivered with a smile. The location is fantastic as you are just a 2 minute walk from the Barbakan and 5 minutes to the cathedral and early Christian tombs. It is important to note that you cannot pay with credit card - it is cash only.

We arrived in Pecs from Romania in the early evening and our sat-nav found the Barbakan for us. First impressions were that it looked quite small and very well kept - this was confirmed at the reception which was also small and very well kept!

The receptionist had very basic English and of course we couldn't speak Hungarian, but we were quickly checked into what turned out to be a very pleasant and comfortable hotel. Although the hotel has a small parking area at the rear, we had to park on waste ground just across from the hotel entrance, which we were assured was safe.

We ate out that night, but had breakfast in the rather splendid hotel dining room. The food was very nice with assorted types of egg, all liberally sprinkled with paprika.

If I'm ever in Pecs again, I'll be back at the Barbakan.

This hotel has 9 rooms. 2 of them are on the top floor. The elevator stops at the floor just below. This could be an issue for some. The hotel was full on the night we arrived. Their 2 lots have 1 space allotted to each room. We arrived late and the one space left was meant for a small car so ours didn’t fit. After trouble shooting with the front desk, we decided to double park which worked out in the end. There are only 2 spots which will work adequately for a van. After the initial problem, everything else was good. The front desk staff was friendly and very helpful. The room was clean. The A/C worked fine, but was noisy. The bathroom was clean with a soap dispenser in the shower. The WiFi speed was good. A free breakfast was included. The food was ok. We had to wait to eat because there weren’t enough tables available for all of the guests to eat at the same time. We liked the location as it was a 10 to 15 minute walk to the historical sites. I was happy staying at this hotel and would choose this location again.

We were absolutely satisfied with this cosy, small hotel. It has a great location very close to the city centre, its own parking lot, free wi-fi, lift and 24-hour reception, where everyone was totally friendly. Also the breakfast was wonderful, helpful staff, fresh food hot and cold. Rooms were ok, clean, well equiped. Check-out at 11 is also advantage. We would definitely come again.

Barbakan Hotel lies at the North East side of the city centre, within 5 minutes you are standing at the UNESCO 4th Century Christian graves! The rooms are clean, have German style furniture and neat. We slept with our two kids in the family room at the top of the building. Only negative point is that the sheets are too short for the mattresses, but you see that more often. There is an elevator for most rooms and at the back (very) limited parking, but you can park at the front of the hotel also. The breakfast is good, there is a buffet with some standard drinks and food (bread, butter, jam, honey etc), and you can order a dish from the menu with eggs or a cold plate with a.o. typical Hungarian salami. The receptionist speaks some German and English. Well recommended!

This hotel is very good for a 3-star hotel.
The hotel is relatively new and the rooms are quite good. The only thing that could be better is the breakfast, which should be more diverse.
The location is very good, very near the city center.

A lovely hotel in a quiet neighborhood that is still only a 15-minute walk away from Pecs' main square; it's about 3 minutes to Barbakan after which it is named and about 7 minutes to the cathedral. The hotel is clean, air-conditioned, offers excellent breakfast. The staff are very helpful. I was leaving early, before breakfast time, and they gave me sandwiches, juice, and fruit to go. The hotel itself was very quiet, too, and sleep quality was great. All in all, a highly enjoyable experience, I would stay there again.

We stayed for 2 nights in Hotel Barbakan. The staff was friendly from the first moment and the food at the breakfast was delicious. The room itself was clean and the bed was comfortable.

They close the main door after 10 PM for security reasons, but you only have to ring and they open it almost instantly.

Two negative things I could mention: the AC had some strange odour when turned on (we didn't use it much, because we didn't need to) and the view from our room was facing at a construction. These were minor things since we didn't spend too much time inside, mostly we used our room for sleeping.

All in all, it's a great hotel for its price. Recommended!
