We spent four days in Budapest in May. We stayed in the Bronze room. Very nice and clean with a modern bathroom. The room was a suite with a small kitchen and a very formal and uncomfortable dinning room table. Everything was very nice, only suggestion would be a shower curtain for the bathtub and possibly a couch to sit...

Stayed end of May, 2012. Located in the Castle district, on the Buda side, this hotel characterizes itself as an: All Suite Hotel Deluxe. We purchased, from an on-line company, a package that included airport transportation, a 3 night stay in a Gold Suite, breakfast, and a set 3 course dinner for 2, on a night of our choice. This...

Having been in a very similar type of hotel in Prague last year we choose another "apartment" style hotel. The suites are very spacious. We had a gold suite (room 8) which was on the first floor on a corner and had separate lounge, bedroom, bathroom and entrance hall/kitchen area. We didn't use the kithcen facility at all apart from...

We booked a week's stay at St George's Residence late one Friday evening, after a bottle of red, based on Trip Adviser's "most romantic" ranking. Sometimes the best decisions are made instinctively and this was one of them. Although we booked a Bronze apartment I think we got an upgrade to the elegant suite at the front corner of the...

This is an extraordinary hotel, a true 5-star experience. Rooms are not rooms but full apartments furnished with reproduction antiques. The building dates back to the 14 century and has been renovated and equipped to a very high standard. Grand rooms and public areas. Located on the Buda hill, the best location in Budapest near the castle and opposite the...

We (2 adults and 2 small children) stayed for 2 nights at St. George. They gave us welcome drinks upon arrival on May 9. Unfortunately, they had no elevator/ lift and we stayed on the topmost floor. But they did help us with our 2 20kg luggages. The suite was very big - had a dining area complete with kitchen...

If you love Prague you will love Budapest. Our hotel was on the Buda side and I liked it as it is quiet in the evening and the views of the city are great. We walked down and across the river but got the 16 bus back up from Deak Terrace. On the Buda side there are lots of nice...

In April my friend and I spend 3 lovely days at the St. George. It is a small boutique hotel, and it is beautifully appointed. It has a lovely full breakfast in the cost of the room, and a bar and restuarant for lunch and dinner on site. It is very convenient to explore the Buda side of the city,...

We stayed over the Easter bank holiday in this wonderful hotel, we were in room 14, which is a quiet room at the side of the hotel. The in-laws stayed in room 11. Both rooms were superb, room 11 had a jacuzzi bath, and our room have a large dining tab,e for drinks. We received a bottle of wine on...

We stayed at the St. George in April and were extremely happy with our suite of rooms, the hospitality, and the dining room. The location is great -- up on the Buda hill, just a short walk from the castle and the Fisherman's Bastion and within easy reach of many restaurants as well as the bus. We got a palatial...

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
