We went for a meal only. We were enticed in by lovely pictures of the food and offers of discounts all round. Staff were pleasant throughout is the only good point. The room itself was quite chilly. The food was ok but not like the pictures. I had onion soup which was horrid. It was garlic soup - very strong...

Avoid this place! Nothing about it was good. Food was bad, staff were rude (once you were trapped) they attempted to charge very much more than the price given outside. Firstly, the food was INCREDIBLY poor, i.e. the "goulash soup" was like an instant powered "cup soup" with 4 bits of potato and 2 bits of meat in. The main...

Awful experience. First its not a hotel. The rooms will not be cleaned as expected in every morning. Bathroom area gets flooded. The restaurant in the hotel will make you feel cheated. All in all, never try this hotel. If there is any good about this hotel is its location.

The hotel itself was difficult to find, there were no signs outside. After walking up and down the street several times I spoke to a restaurant who directed me to the Old Monarchia Restaurant and the check in desk is inside. Room itself was good. The bathroom was not well designed but the location was amazing. Short walk to the...

The Galilei is more a guest house than a hotel. So there is no reception, but a restaurant directly at the hotel, and the nice people there take care of you. We had our own large appartments, fully equipped with each three beds, bathroom, TV (only Hungarian program and CNN), table, chairs, wardrobes - and lots of space. First positive...

My friend and I were supposed to check in today at the Hotel Galilei and stay for two nights. However, on arrival after a waiting time of over 2 hours, we were informed that there were no rooms left, that the hotel was overbooked and that we would have to find an alternative accommodation. We never received any communication from...

Can confirm what many others in here write: overall a bad "hotel". The "reception" solution in the restaurant was horrible, the staff down there was rude and very slow and it was a bad start on the vacation to spend almost 1 hour in that hole before we where shown the rooms. The rooms was in general in a bad...

This is not a hotel. It's a room in a dingy building which is also occupied by residents and businesses. The 'hotel' is a restaurant that opens at 11.00 a.m. Reception is a small desk in the corner of the bar that is never manned. The room is never cleaned or the linen changed. The beds are low and bad...

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
