Neighbourhood
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

One of the worst hostels I have ever stayed at. Extremely dirty and untidy - both at the lobby area (rubbish left around, water dispensers were un-filled and unwashed glasses lying around constantly) and the female dormitory rooms (bathroom does not seem to be cleaned up for days, shower area overflowing with water and dirt and rubbish and dust all over the rooms). They seem to have free tapas and free wine nights however I feel they rather should invest in more/ better cleaners - get the basics right first of all. One of the female dorm room’s aircon broke down and the condition was unbearable during the hot summer - thankfully I could get a room change however they should have completely stop putting people in that room since an air conditioned room was advertised.

Thank you for your feedback. While I wish, you had a better experience, it is feedback that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it’s apparent in this case, we are really sorry for the discomfort. We are sorry to hear the rooms and the bathrooms weren't up to the standard you've come to expect from us. We have addressed this with our housekeeping staff to ensure this won't happen again. Also, we are really sorry for the discomfort caused by the broken airconditioning, we have fixed them and checked them to make sure that such inconveniences won't happen again.

The hostel is very warm and fun, with a great lobby and shared kitchen and a very comfy room, the main joy was from the wonderful staff that was always happy to help us with anything. A great stay. :)

Pros: good location, great air conditioning even in the hot August weather, spacious and private bathrooms, comfortable beds, PRIVATE even in an 8 person room as there are curtains around the beds. Cons: bathrooms a bit dirty, and the stuff was a bit slow and rude (I went 14:45 to check in, they told me to wait a bit as the check in starts at 15:00, however, then they forgot about me, as it turned out when I went to ask about my room at 17:00! I was sitting right there in the lobby!) Still, I believe these are all humanly mistakes, overall it was a very pleasent stay for a hostel!

The place is really pleasant and the accommodations were very comfortable, the woman at the reception really stands out by the positive with her good mood and very friendly despite having to stay until long hours to check costumers in. The only reason I didn't stay longer was because I had to catch a train. Tldr: low prices for one of the best places to stay at night in Budapest

Hey, when I was there, alot of people were closed off because they were travelling in groups- but were friendly enough. If you stay in a room with shared bunks, then I'm sure you'd meet some cool people. Either way good location!

First of all, I'd do the various free tours which take place multiple times daily (many cities have these and I've almost always have wonderful experiences.) given by various companies. Google free tours budapest for info. If it wasn't the middle of the winter, I'd suggest renting bikes or doing a bike tour. I would highly recommend going up to the citadel like an hour before sunset and staying there until it gets dark, for a spectacular and enchanting (and romantic) view. Make sure to stroll down Andrassy ut. At the end, which you might need to hop on a bus or cab to as it's 2.6 km, you'll see Hero's Square, Varosliget Castle, Szechenyi Baths and the zoo. Check out the parliment building, as well as the "Shoes" Holocaust memorial outside the Parliment on the river bank. Nearby, there's a larger than life statue of Ronald Reagan. In the Jewish quarter (covered by free tours which are highly recommended) check out Szimpla Ruin Pub. Very creative and interesting as well ad fun. Check out Nagy Vasarcsarnok market. For a fun experience a bit outside the center city, visit Celeritas shooting range. The let you shoot a wide variety of weapons including many soviet models. Ask them to help you arrange a cab ride there and back with other customers. If you like opera, watch one at the opera house. To get from the airport to the center of town, some airlines (like Wizz) have shuttles. You can ask the hostel or hotel you're staying at to arrange a taxi to meet you. Ask them what it's supposed to cost and don't let the cab driver rip you off as is commin there. Enjoy your trip!
