Friends recommended the Astoria for coffee - we stopped by after a long day of sightseeing. The service was a bit offhand but the ambience and internal decor of this landmark building made up for it. Recommended

Overall, a brilliant hotel in the best possible location! Literally 5 minutes from everything! We were allocated the older rooms on the 3rd floor which could definitely do with a bit of an update and they're very noisy all night however, we anticipated this given how inner city it was. All we used our room for was showering and sleeping...

A very comfortable hotel with a friendly staff and wonderful breakfast. Good location, metro station Astoria right below the hotel and walking distance from best shopping areas. Hop on, hop off bus stop cross the street. Traffic is loud so cannot recommend for light sleepers.

Noisy traffic, so you will sleep with the windows shot. Otherwise, nice place for the price. Restaurant is great, continental breakfast is fantastic. Staff is polite, friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to a friend.

A grand hotel from reception area and restaurant, but sadly from the bedrooms and corridors you would never know it. The 2nd and 3rd floor corridors both were so stale that the smell made me nauseous. The first room I was allocated looked as though it had not been maintained nor updated for decades - and smelt the same as...

Great location in walking distance to the city centre and right next to the Astoria metro station. Very traditional feel, with lots of brass lights and dark marble. Ate in the restaurant which was delightful. They had a quartet (strings and Xylophone) playing largely traditional music, and the food was excellent. Budapest is great value for money compared with other...

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
