Everything about the hotel is grand - as its name suggests. The entry is impressive. Staff were helpful throughout. The breakfast was particularly good way to start the day. The room was comfortable without being over the top. Lack of english papers was only frustration.

Spent 3 nights at this beautiful hotel. The room was large as was the beautiful bathroom. Bed was very comfortable. We stayed in a deluxe room overlooking the atrium. One of the highlights of this hotel was the pool and hot tubs. One of the most beautifully designed pool areas I've ever seen. The hotel was in a prime location...

If you want grandeur and a relaxing break away, this is the place to stay! Location is perfect and the staff always go the extra mile. Rooms have all the usual fixtures, plus a nice coffee machine and a bose speaker. The spa facilities are the best in the city and the hotel is steeped in history. Will return soon!

Very large hotel with some impressive 5 star features, grand staircase, glass atiums with a fantastic spa and pool. Small gym. On a somewhat grimy street, it is well placed for the sites and all transport systems. Breakfast quite superb - you can even have a glass of Hungarian sparkling wine with your Eggs Benedict. We also ate in the...

Beautiful hotel in excellent location but away from the city centre. Breakfast has plenty to choose from. The pillow is too soft for me. I was also expecting universal electrical socket in the room with a hotel in 5 star class.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 days in March. The hotel is really beautiful and the rooms clean, quiet, and tastefully decorated, I really loved the size of the bathroom. We ordered room service and the food was delicious although overpriced but I guess that is too be expected in a hotel of this quality. Housekeeping service was...

Beautiful hotel and atmosphere. Breakfast had plenty of choice and the hotel is in a great location. We were visiting Budapest for a wedding but would certainly return to the City and this hotel to explore more of what is on offer. Swimming pool and spa were fantastic, large enough to accommodate plenty of guests and clean. Next time I'll...

This hotel is a must in your stopover in Budapest. The location is excellent, the hotel is stunning and elegantly understated, majestic public spaces and dining areas, lovely rooms and beautiful swimming pool and full-service spa. The staff is beautifully trained and most accommodating. Can't miss if you stay here during your time in Budapest.

Wonderful accommodations while in Budapest. Old world charm with bright updated amenities. Great breakfasts to start the day, courteous staff, a pleasure to be a guest at this historic hotel. Transit or taxi at front door and for those who don't mind a stroll well located to explore Pest.

We chose this hotel because the Budapest Eyewitness Guide says that it "oozes class." The staff is friendly and efficient, the food is excellent, and the location is ideal for sightseeing. If you stay on an Executive Floor you'll also have access to dinner on its mezzanine, which is a quiet oasis in a very busy city. It's about two...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
