Reading some reviews, which did not totally endorse the hotel, I wondered what I might expect. Certainly my first pint of contact, the receptionist was pleasant, helpful and patient. The room was fine and everything I would expect from Mercure. When I came to ask for help finding places of interest or booking on the top on stop off bus...

My wife and I spent 3 nights in this hotel, the staff at reception were excellent and most helpful. On arrival this looked like a quality 4 star hotel BUT the bedrooms are 1 star standard and 2 star privelage .We stayed in both as we managed through the help of the receptionist to be moved from floor 8 to floor 2...

I spent here two nights in a business trip but I was expecting far more from a 4 stars hotel. Although I stayed in a privilege room, the room decor was outdated, with bad smell coming up from the shower drain and with the worst mattress I have had in the last 5 years all around the world. Luckily I...

This is a good 4 star hotel situated in a decent part of Buda, opposite Buda Palace. It does a great selection of breakfast and good evening meals too. It is a very good place to stay, and this was my second visit here. Both 2014 and 2017 were equally good. Highly recommended. Situated conveniently for Deli station (for trains...

First off I'm used to 2.5 star hotels. But when I travel with a group it's usually 3-4 star ratings. Obviously hotel class/star ratings aren't standardized but in a large developed city such as Budapest I would've expected much more. The breakfast was mediocre at best, the hotel room exceptionally muggy and warm. It was a 40-50 Fahrenheit degree day...

This hotel was perfectly ok for what we paid. I would say that it is probably better for business than tourism and if I was visiting Budapest again I would stay on the Pest side where there is more going on. Good points of this hotel are: The location is nice and quiet and close to some of Budapest's landmarks...

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. Bedroom good. Beds good. Restaurant O.K: Very close to METRO which is more than easy to use. But - staying on the Buda side of Don a bit to far away from downtown with all the restaurants, bars, squers and human life. Easy to reach on the Metro - but.....

This hotel is completely disgusting. The structure looks like a soviet building. The rooms are super old. Furniture are not working as they look like 30 years old. The bathrooms as bath and sink black due to in service life. The food is terrible, as it's not cooked by a chef but it comes from a supermarket so they just...

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
