My wife and I returned to Budapest for a week after a hiatus of 15 years. All those may years ago we stayed at the Kempinski often over a period of two or three years when I was doing regular business there. We again found the hotel to be first class in terms of accommodations, service, friendliness of staff, dining...

The Kempinski Corvinus hotel exceeded my expectations during our 3 night stay in beautiful Budapest. From the moment we arrived and were warmly greeted by the doormen in their fine suits and hats, we felt very welcome. The reception staff, concierge and lady in red were extremely friendly and helpful. We were shown up to our superior room on the...

First the good news--there is no better located hotel in the city. The Kempinski is next to the largest shopping area, tons of restaurants, and very close to the Metro, which can get you anywhere you need to go in the city. The staff was also terrific, but there are things even they couldn't do. My room was tiny with...

I was there for a two nights stay beginning of November 2013. The room smelled of sewage for the entire time. Especially inside the shower, it was hard to breathe. The spa area was quite nice, steam bath, sauna, small pool with counter-current etc. However, there was an apple core next to the Kneipp bath on Friday, and when I...

The Kempinski is a good hotel but our four night stay was not without its disappointments and irritations. We were given a room on the eighth floor which was the smallest we had ever encountered in a five star hotel. So small, in fact, that when we found only one pair of slippers and one robe in the bathroom our...

I was no for the second time at Kempinski. No need probably to stress that the first time I had a lovely time. Well, obivously in two years many things changed for the worse. I made a last minute booking. By mistake I made two bookings. I wrote right away an email to the booking department about the mistake. Although...

I stayed at the Kempinski on November 28th and 29th. This was a business trip and a co-worker told me to stay at the Kempinski and I was not disappointed. I arrived by taxi and the door man quickly had the door open and my luggage out of the car. He gave me a receipt for the luggage and told...

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
