First of all the eccentric Alex is an amazing host who is one of the most generous, hospitable people I have met. One of my highlights of my trip was getting dinked on the back of his bicycle to the shop to buy more food through the streets of Budapest! The hostel is located in an excellent location, a short... Alex is a very pleasant host, who performs a maximal effort at making you feel comfortable, and having a great stay at his cosy and very clean hostel. This is a small hostel which has a lot of advantages: you can talk to other travellers at night or at the tasty breakfast table in the mornings; you can have a... More

We spent in BCH three night and it was very pleasant stay. I was really surprised by nice and clean rooms. Alex is very hospitable and helpful (For example, he borrowed me a swimming trunks, thus I could go to Sczéchenyi spa). And the location of the hostel is great, in the very center of Budapest.

This is a great place to stay. It is centrally located, clean, very homely and friendly. Everything is walking distance from here. Also a very good place to meet other travellers and make new friends. The owner Alex is great. He gave us good tips on where to go and places to eat and also some useful money saving tips.... More

On arriving Alex informed us that our room was not finished as he was still making a bed. When getting into our room later that day one bed just had the covers thrown on. In the room it had a upper floor which was early done himself and not looking finished. MDF boards lay bare on the floor, the shower... More

I stayed here in December 2010, where I met some Australians and Germans and the girl working there showed us all the best places for a beer. I enjoyed it so much I cam back the following year. There is a large lounge area to chill out.

This was my first time in central Europe and it was the most welcoming experience I could have had. A large group of students, including me, were staying in the hostel before traveling to Romania to teach Eanglish. Even with 20 girls, Alex managed to keep things clean, friendly and well stocked in the kitchen. I was so impressed and... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
