-close to the Gellert Hill, beautiful and silent neighberhood -good transport (bus stop 1minute from the hostel, bus connected to metro leaves every 5-10minutes) -really nice, english-speaking staff, very helpful everytime (I asked about money exchange places and they checked in the internet and gave me a map) -clean, cosy rooms, not a 5 star hotel but when I go...

Nice, clean, well maintained average student dormitory. Very hospitable staff. Only complaint could be problems with wifi reception - it often gets to weak to serve all the guests, usually it helps to use wifi in the reception room (the reception room also has few computers with internet). The refrigerator in the room was set too cold and al the...

Made a reservation online but when I got there they didn't have any record of it (still they found me a room to stay for the night). The hostel is a little far from the city center, the area is very dark and lonely at night, but there are bus stations very close. The rooms are quite comfortable to spend...

Even though the place was up a small hill, the location is great. It is close to the subway, trolleys, and busses. The staff were helpful, the rooms were decent, and the bathrooms were kept clean. The only down side to this place is the WiFi. It rarely worked.

We weren't expecting much as we were looking for a place to stay few days before we left. However, we were surprised in a good way, our room was clean and everything in it was working. The staff at the reception were helpful. Only bad thing were the toilets, not very clean and not very good smelling. Wifi didn't actually...

- reception people not welcoming at all. They hardly said hello when I arrived. It looked like they just wanted to get my money and give me the key - terrible wifi connexion, worked one day out of two - showers in the morning were sometimes cold - very noisy at night, people talked loudly (or even shouted) in the...

This time we were 3 people travelling and we could not find a better deal as we booked from one day to another. The hostel is correct and clean but too far away from the center. The nearest public transport to the center was about 10 minuts walking. Pleasant to go down the street, but not so pleasant to go...

To be hones, for what I expect of a hostel, this should get a 2 out of 5 at most! But then again, you get what you pay for ... If i remember corectly, we payed about 5€ a night so, its no suprise the hostel has about the same charm and appeal of a hospital. I think the building...

It looks like a student dorm, but the prices are very good. The rooms have two beds, and a basic cleaning room(shower & sink). In the room you can also find a refrigerator. Very nice staff, they speak fluently English and are very helpful. You can let the key at the reception when you go outside.

The city hostel buda is a university dorm when it's not a hostel, so if you go with that in mind you'll be fine! he rooms are basic, but nice and clean with a shower and sink. Toilets are down the hall, but that wasn't a problem for us. Receptionists speak English very well and are helpful (they called and...

Staying in Gellert Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Gellert Hill
If you want to treat your camera to some amazing scenery, Gellért Hill is a must on your itinerary. A funicular journey from the Chain Bridge along the hillsides provides a fast connection between Buda and Pest, hoisting visitors to panoramic vistas. Once on top of the hill, you’ll find the Citadel dominate the landscape with its imposing 19th century construction, a site that’s hard to keep your eyes on without being distracted by the phenomenal view over the Danube and the eight bridges crossing. Once on Gellért Hill however, one mustn’t miss the famous Gellért Baths. Budapest is renown for its thermal waters and its baths, and the Gellért Baths are housed in an impressive art nouveau structure. Its interior design, with its many mosaics, recalls the preceding relationships the city has had with healing springs and saunas, traditionally used within this neighborhood since the Ottoman Empire.
