The Gerloczy is a charming boutique hotel in the center of Budapest that I thoroughly enjoyed staying at for 6 nights in September. The hotel is located on a quiet square within easy walking distance of a Metro station and many sites in central Budapest. The spacious room on the 3rd floor had high ceilings and large windows. The furnishings...

Stayed here for a night before flying home. A friend of mine who is from Budapest recommended that I eat dinner in the cafe and stay here at night for my last night in Hungary, and Gerloczy did not disappoint. Even though they were cheaper, I really enjoyed the look of the attic rooms on their website (exposed beams, elevated...

We stayed in one of the beautiful Attic Rooms and we simply loved staying in the hotel. The breakfast is amazing, the owner is superfriendly and the whole crew made our stay really lovely. We will definitely come back.

Can only agree with previous positive reviews - a hotel brimming with character and vintage charm. Sure, it's clean, comfortable and ticks all the usual boxes (great location near some of the best 'ruin pubs' and spas), but what makes this place so special is the relaxing atmosphere and absolutely outstanding customer service. You will not find more generous, intelligent...

We stayed here for the weekend based on the great reviews, and we were not disappointed. Upon arrival we were upgraded into the balcony room free of charge, and the staff (who speak perfect English) were immediately helpful with any questions. The room was decorated perfectly, but it was the personal touches that made it extra special. The chocolates and...

Our group of five thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights at the Gerloczy. The beds were big and really comfortable - nice and firm with separate duvets on the king/twin pushed together. In 1/4 and 3/4 we had a stand up shower, in 1/1 a bath tub. Don't expect a massive shower room with high water pressure but the bathroom was...

We had 2 rooms on the 4th floor in this lovely little hotel one block from transportation. Our rooms were a bit small, but quite lovely. Front desk service was consistently outstanding. Breakfast at the attached cafe (required fee added to the room rate) was ok. Service was adequate, not a bit friendly to tourists. Quite a few menu options,...

My husband and I stayed in an attic room, room #1 on the 4th floor. The room is very cozy, with a bed up on a bit of a loft - you take 2 steps up onto the bed platform. Makes you feel like you are sleeping in a king's bed. The exposed beams are beautiful and the windows in...

I don't know if I can call Gerloczy a "hidden gem" as it's only a block off of a major street, but it felt like a private retreat. The rooms are gorgeous, full of old-world charm. The service was friendly and warm. The complimentary minibar and luxe toiletries were an added treat. The breakfast in the restaurant is fantastic, be...

my partner and I stayed here for 2 nights mid December. What a wonderful place. Comfortable, accommodating, fantastic location. We simply could not want for more. All of the staff are very helpful with local recommendations. The restaurant is lovely and service is great. One slight ;let down is that the shower has not great pressure but tis does not...

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
