The hotel is very nicely located for walks along the Danube and has quite a few sights nearby - with the Jewish Synagogue right across the street. It's easy to get a boat for a tour on the river or take a bus or the subway in any direction and there are several good restaurants nearby. The top shopping street...

The other Tripadvisor reviewers have summed up this hotel very well, so there's not a lot more I can add. Had I not already read about the unconventional entrance I would have been worried that the taxi driver had dropped us off at the wrong location! Be assured though, once you're aware of how to access the 24 hour reception...

Map or no map, I doubt if I would have found the hotel without the taxi driver (who charged us a fortune). The dirty, graffiti laden "entrance", with no easily visible sign (we saw it later after knowing what to look for) in sight, the cramped old elevator, the dirty balcony down a long hall to a thoroughly modern desk...

I stayed at Budapest Karoly Central for four nights in June. I read how difficult it is to find. I printed the detailed directions on the hotel web site and had no problems even on a quiet Sunday afternoon arrival. Without the directions, it would be tough. The location is very close to a subway station. As a solo traveler,...

This hotel is perfectly situated in central Budapest right next to the Dohany Street Synagogue with a Metro station 1/2 block away. The hotel itself, as others have written, is difficutl to find within a large building that also houses professional offices and apartments. The hotel takes up a small portion of the 1st floor and the walk through the...

Had the right address but couldnt find the Hotel sign in all the graffitti at the entrance to this building's courtyard. I ventured in, & a cleaning lady pointed to the lift. Up to the 2nd floor , along a walkway with peeling paint but no litter - just old & decaying. At this stage I'm thinking Trip Advisor has...

We stayed 2 days at Karoly Central and we enjoyed the hotel. It was very central. The rooms are very nice and new, the breakfast is serviced to room, the staff's behaviour and recommendations were very good. They have also given a bottle of white wine as a gift which we didnt experience even at 5 star hotels. The hotel...

We stayed in Karoly Central for 3 nights. The most noticeable features of this hotel are the situation (next to the Pest centre, just 5 minutes walk from Deak Ter, the central metro station), the price which is very correct for the comfort (great and clean room, nice bathroom) and the friendly staff at the reception. Moreover they suggested us...

We almost let our fear of being able to find this hotel keep us from booking a stay. We're glad we didn't. It was a delight to meet Dorka, Reka, and Tikva, and we can't thank them enough for making us feel so welcome. The hotel is small, very clean, and air conditioned! Nice to come back to at the...

Firstly easy to get from airport, terminal 1 , train (£1), underground, 200metres from Astoria underground (a three day transport pass £12), then you have to use your initiative... recommend an external photo off website onto your mobile phone and you will spot it easily, once inside look for the lift and names.. it is there . Unusual style but...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
