Very nice hotel ideally located in a quiet street near the river and the city center (10 mn walk). Nice welcome, spacious room, copious breakfast, a nice homey feeling. And very correct prices.

Good reception: everything has been thought of... you can buy snacks, coffee sachets etc. at reception. There is a small elevator. Room clean and comfortable bed. Warm room (we were there in February) Modern, comfortable decor, good bathroom. Kettle and fridge (shared) on landing area outside your room. Good, fresh breakfast can be brought to your room at time to... More

Booked ourselves via VRBO and were not dissapointed. Very nice experience, stayed on the top floor & enjoyed the view. Will want to stay longer next time to see more of the countryside. Easy wallking distance to all sites. U Flecku tavern very close! 8-)

Guest House Merlin was a bit hard to find coming to Prague for the first time, but heaps easy once I knew where it was. I think the main problem was the closest Metro station (Karlovo náměstí) has quite a few exits, all of which leads you to quite different areas. Because the hotel's near the river, I thought it... My wife and I spent four nights at the Guest House Merlin. It is a great location, a 15 minute walk along the river or a 5 min tram ride to the old town center. The staff - especially Barbara - are very friendly, very helpful and accommodating. They also spoke English. Our room was spacious and bright with a... More

We stayed for 2 nights in a very welcoming renovated room with lovely ensuite - skylight above the bed which was great at night to see the stars. Very clean and comfortable guesthouse type accommodation. Lift was small but that seemed to be normal in most places we stayed in Europe - we found smaller! Breakfast in the restaurant basement... This pension is cheap and cheerful, yet it has excellent service, is very clean and is a nice 20 minute stroll from the centre of Prague. To be honest, the only fault I would find with the place is the lift, which is somewhat scary, and yet very necessary when one is on the top floor. Definitely recommended.

We had great time in Merlin guest house! The room was clean and the personal was very kind! They gave us tips for Prague, and treated us like local, whiout wanting to fool us. Whenever we needed something, they were ready to do everything they could to please us. The location is also good as it has good connection with... More

Placed very close to the old city center (about 5 minutes on foot) , cosy, clean and recently renovated pesion/guest house. It was all what I wanted... good and relatively cheap.. more, it's close to a supermarket center where one can buy cheap drinks and food :) I recommend it ! The knowledgeable and friendly reception staff is only the beginning of this great value. The location is near the river, a 10 minute walk to Charles bridge. Renovated rooms are large and modern. Price is very reasonable. The restaurant on the ground floor is excellent

Staying in Nove Mesto (New Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred metres long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theatres. National Theatre near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.
