Overall Praga 1 is just a 3 star hotel and no more. It is clean, quiet and the food is basic. The double room we booked was really two single beds put together and the room slept three people by virtue of a sofa bed. All rooms at the hotel are smoking rooms. The smell would be very obvious to...

We booked our stay at venere.com where you can find the best prices. Good value for your money. The hotel was in an excellent location, the breakfast was good and the staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

we have just returned this week from our visit to Prague, we were fortunate to stay at Residence Praga 1, it was just 5mins from Wencelas Square and about 10 minutes from oldtown. Lovely, simple hotel, no frills, nice clean, warm spacious rooms, staff were very helpful and friendly, the hotel was very very reasonably priced, would definitely stay there...

Excellent hotel, the side streets off from the hotel have good local bars and resturants if you fancy drinking or eating away from the tourists. And the costs are a third of what you will pay in the more popular areas. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful and speak good English. Rooms are BIG and very clean. Breakfast is...

The hotel is situated in a slightly seedy area of the new town, but this should not put you off, the hotel its self is basic but very clean. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpfull. If all you are looking for from a hotel is a clean bedroom and breakfast the hotel is ideal. It is about 7...

On my honeymoon I was absolutely devistated to realise that I had booked (and paid for) the worng hotel. On Expedia I had meant to book a Hotel with an almost identical name on the Old Town Square in the centre of Prague. Instead we arrived at the New Town Square, a somewhat seedier area than what we had anticipated,...

We were very happy with our choice of this hotel. Good points:- Central location, very close to Wenc Sq, 15/20 minutes from Old Town Sq, Charles Bridge. Castle, Petrin Hill, Loreto, Strahov Monastery all walkable if you are reasonably fit. Easy to find - get off Metro at Karlovo Namesti, about 5 minutes walk from there. Large bedrooms with fridge/mini-bar....

Hotel is located few minutes walk to Wencelas Square and about 15/20 minutes walk to Charles Bridge. Metro & tram close by so very easy to hop on & off, but we only caught the tram once. Hotel lobby is very smokey and hot (it was a warm week when we were there). Room is quite spacious and bathroom is...

This hotel provides an ideal base for exploring the beautiful city of Prague. It's within easy walking distance of all the main attractions (Wenceslas Square, Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, Prague castle etc) whilst still being very affordable. The hotel is clean and tastefully decorated with friendly, helpful staff. Our room was huge, and again, clean and well decorated, the...

Returned last week having spent three nights at the Prague 1. I was lucky enough to book online so got quite a healthy discount, i saw the same package in a brochure at over £100 p/person more. If i had paid the higher price i would have been quite disappointed. The hotel itself is deceivably small, standing on the street...

Staying in Nove Mesto (New Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred metres long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theatres. National Theatre near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.
