At Dunagiri, spirituality and sustainability seamlessly merge. Our eco-friendly accommodations and organic gardens are set against the backdrop of the Himalayan splendor, creating a tranquil space for meditation retreats and fostering a deep connection with nature. We visited for 10 days in October what a wonderful experience perched high up the mountain with unbelieveable views all round, the rooms are spacious, comfortable & clean & the food is outstanding.
Our host Piyush & his staff could not do enough to ensure our stay was wonderful they were so helpful & polite also advising us on places to visit & the best walks to take. This hidden gem is so peaceful away from the every day pressures a true escape.

Dunagiri is a special place indeed. The experience will stay in my heart forever. It really is a trip of a lifetime and far surpassed my expectations in every way. I hope and pray I'll be able to return one day!
Coming from the UK & after a long trip the welcoming hospitality we received was amazing. Piyush and Katy are simply beautiful people with warm, open hearts who care so much for the local area what they are doing here is amazing! Please keep doing it! Giving back to the local village via employment and giving us peace and serenity in the process... it's a small utopia in India.
The retreat operates as a sustainable sharing economy which works on many levels! Dunagiri is stunning with the most serene views, flowers, birds & butterflies everywhere, mother nature at her absolute finest! The facilities are rustic & beautiful, I loved the bucket baths, I thought I might not, but they were nicer than a shower! The food is amazing - vegetarian, fresh local ingredients, the water fresh and pure - I feel like I've had a nourishing detox! Everything you could want and so much more.
Yoga was either outside with a view of the snowcapped peaks of the Himalayas or in the purpose built huge pyramid which was lit beautifully to become a small glowing pod in the evenings.
Our carefully planned trips to temples, ashrams and to spiritual sites made it super special - meeting local villagers who invited us into their homes with warmth and laughter, visiting the local school, meditating at the site of Babaji's cave & meeting a yogi were real hi-lights as well as the gorgeous litter of Himalayan Mastiff puppies that were born during our stay.
It's hard to put into words how grateful I feel to have experienced this magical retreat, it's like a tonic for the soul, I haven't felt as alive, happy and free for a long time (if ever!) I would recommend everyone to go there as medicine or therapy, problems or stress seem to dissolve within hours of arriving!
From the bottom of my heart thank you for such an amazing experience and I will try and spread the word about the wonderful work you do and carry the Dunagiri message in to my own life! Love and peace x

We traveled to the resort during end December, we were the only guests staying at the resort. Have to admit that staying with Piyush and Kathy was truly wonderfully, these guys are amazing hosts and the hotel staff are equally warm and loving.

Since we visited the resort in December, it was quite cold but Piyush took care of our needs really well, he did not come across as Hotel manager, albeit a family member.

The rooms were clean, spacious and had necessary provisions for comfortable stay. The food was local fare, absolutely delicious, oozed of love. Piyush lovingly showed us his Pyramid meditation centre, it is beautifully done and very vibrant.

The resort is on the opposite hill from Babaji's cave, the energy within the resort also is extremely vibrant, just by closing eyes, one can get into meditation easily. We had great time visiting Babaji cave despite snow cover in few spots on the way.

I have to admit that this is no ordinary resort, you can almost feel the love, passion all people who work have and sometimes hard to measure with Energy transfer, having said that, it would help if Piyush could look at providing discounts during off season :)

To summarize, we loved it and would come again for a longer period and hope Piyush can offer discount (especially when we come at off season...ha ha ha )

For city dwellers, a place like Dunagiri retreat brings in so much stillness, so much peace and a very grounding experience. The silence, the stunning visuals and the vast spreads of mountain land soothes your senses. The location of this place is very unique and so difficult to find in the mountains- with undulating hues of valleys sashaying on your front to the stunning Himalayas on your back. The beautiful sunrise and a majestic sunset are just about a small climb apart.

The rooms are large and uncluttered, the food is amazing and the people warm and friendly. Its a great place to rejuvenate and reconnect with nature.

This is a place you should go to if you literally want to 'get away from it all'.....no TV, virtually no internet, erratic cell phone coverage, no Malls or markets, no town...yes it is in the middle of nowhere! Nor is it some fancy shmancy resort (note it's called Retreat, not a Resort) --it's pretty basic. Yes you have your decent beds and linen etc but if you come in the monsoon you may not be able to get a change of towels and sheets daily because there's no sunshine to dry the clothes and there certainly aren't any dryers or washing machines, in fact electricity supply is, well, not bad, but it's there when it's there, that's all you'll get. The rooms are nice enough, mostly old village houses converted into rooms, some have better views, the one I stayed in had windows in place of one wall and I loved the open feeling; some rooms have low or sloping roofs so you have to watch your head when you go to the bathroom or at the corners. The rooms are spread over the fairly large property so there's a walk (a few minutes but if you're health is compromised or you have bad knees -you might be just a trifle upset-) and it's on the side of a hill or mountain really there is a fair amount of going up and down from one location to the other, say, the meditation hall -made as a pyramid, the dining room, other rooms, in and out of the property.
The food is more like home cooked than from a hotel but the best part is that they are pretty accommodative if you have any special needs- say if you are vegetarian, vegan or eating oil free etc.
There are places you can hike to --from a 20 minute walk to a few hours and a small town 30-40 minutes drive away. Some temples and of course the famous Kriya Babaji's cave to which people are drawn from all over the world I'm told.
The best part is being totally in the lap of nature and far away from the pollution and hustle bustle of city life. I was just there in the monsoon this time and I loved the downpours. Took a hold of my umbrella and rubber slippers, turned my trousers up and splashed through the water. the grasses and loved watching the flowers beginning to blossom and the potato crop grow. Another visit I was there in February I think and it was much dryer and not anywhere near as green as this time so it depends on the season when you go. There were a few spiders in my room and I came across a couple of scorpions here and there but I left them alone and they left me alone? Of course the boys who work there can easily take them out for you so there's no problem like that.
Enough said!

Retreat is a beautiful word when applied to Dunagiri. It is a place where you are nourished with beautiful food, carefully and lovingly prepared, stunning scenery, and a level of hospitality beyond anything I have ever experienced. My senses were reeling with joy. I feel humbled and amazed by my stay. I truly cannot fully express how wonderful it was. I went on a yoga holiday with Yoga Kula Leeds and I can only say that it was totally brilliant.

Dunagiri Retreat is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to. As a group of 12 we travelled from Yoga Kula Leeds, UK and held our Yoga retreat there. As one of the organisers I had to keep pinching myself.. I knew it was going to be good, as Dunagiri had come highly recommended to me, but I didn't realise it would be as absolutely beautiful in every way as it was. Piyush has created an visionary retreat for people to experience India -from the inside. His thoughtfulness and care for every aspect of our retreat was incredible and much appreciated. Everyone at Dunagiri has made our trip so special, our experience will remain one of happiest times of my life because of the people we met.. the delicious, fresh food that we ate - thanks to Panditji! The mesmerising views that our eyes feasted on.. the beautiful and stylish rooms that we stayed in that made it feel like home whilst we were there.. the day trips that we experienced - such a wonderful itinerary, thanks Piyush and Katie & I can't forget the laughter, so much fun!
With an open heart after an unforgettable experience.. our retreat was better than I could have ever imagined and we've already booked our next visit to Dunagiri in 2 years time!

I had been travelling in kamoun and Garhwal a lot but this place is out of the world!.It is not only beautiful but has some spiritual power.Last week I visited this place with my friends ..Piyush, the owner, told me that first day you might not like the place as much but as you will stay you will start falling in love with it and that was exactly what happened. I got so enthralled with this place that now when I look back and think, I wonder why we keep on running for material pleasures which can only give us temporary satisfaction. Real happiness eludes us .I came back relaxed and rejuvenated .Dunagiri I love you!
Some useful suggestions- Trekking to nearby places is a must, stay here minimum for three or four nights..
Lots of wildlife, no t.v, no phones, no newspaper .Everything is taken care off to perfection by the wonderful staff .Nature at its best.

For an incredibly beautiful experience in Northern India ... go directly to the Dunagiri Resort☺️! We have visited India for the first time in October 2014. The first week was spent at the Dunagiri Resort for a wonderful week course of Qi gong. The resort and our hosts, Piyush and Katy, with their warm welcome, charming and nurturing environment offered us an exceptional experience throughout our stay. The beautiful natural surrounding of the area proved to be a unique natural support for all our activities

A special thanks to Piyush and Katy, for their kindness and patience for our many questions...and needs, their knowledgable sharing on so many subjects, not the least of the country, its traditions, history and deep comprehension of the sacred aspects of the Himalaya area. They helped us feel at home at the Dunagiri Resort, in very nice and confortable rooms.

We look forward to the new dining area that was under construction when we left :) !

Now, back home we look back fondly on our memories spent in Dunagiri, a life moment that one is thankful for and will treasure.

Ps a special mention of appreciation for the lovely warm meals prepared for us, rich in variety, as the kind assistance of the whole local team.
