Our introduction to the lodge started at their office close to Puerto Jimenez airport, having travelled by road to get there (from Trogon Lodge). There we transferred to a comfortable air conditioned 4X4 for the 30 minute ride to the lodge. Well it would have been 30 minutes if we hadn't kept stopping for interesting distractions along the way: Owls,...

I stayed with my family for 3 nights and 4 days at Lapa Rios EcoLodge and had one of the most amazing experiences ever! The place is located in the middle of the Costa Rican jungle, beautifully maintained yet extremely respectful of the environment. The rooms were impressive as was the service. Everyone we met there seemed so happy to...

This is a nature lovers paradise! Our family visited for Spring Break and the stay at Lapa Rios was the highlight of our trip. Superbly trained, thoughtful staff. Beautiful lodging and grounds. Wonderful wildlife experts. Delicious food we would highly recommend.

Where to start...? We weren't quite sure what to expect so this part of our Costa Rican adventure was approached with an open mind. We were dropped off at the Lapa Rios office in Puerto Jiminez where we were refreshed with coconut water (still in the nut) and greeted by the owner who spent some time with us which was...

Dear Steve, Thanks for sharing your experience, and glad it was a great one! You’re right that the Lapa Rios adventure starts before you even arrive at the lodge, and yes, it always involves noisy howler monkeys! Our lodge might be famous for its numerous steps but walking through the rain forest is always a fantastic opportunity for wildlife spotting...

I was at Lapa Rios for 5 nights and from the moment I was picked up at the Puerto Jimenez airport until I was dropped off at the same airport, the experience exceeded my expectations. Even when I was communicating with them prior to my trip, the level of service was great. I plan to go back many more times!!!

We have visited Lapa Rios in April and loved it. Our bungalow was close to the road and was a bit noisy from cars passing by but the scenery was amazing and made up for it. It was also close to reception and restaurant/swimming pool area. Food was always absolutely fresh and delicious and service was excellent. Everybody was very...

My husband, 5 year old son and I spent 3 nights at Lapa Rios at the end of our Costa Rican journey. We had a wonderful, wonderful time. Everything was incredible - the room (best outdoor shower ever!), the food (which they will modify to meet individual needs), the environment (check out a scarlet macaw while taking that outdoor shower)...

Dear Jenn, thanks for the review. We love the fact that your husband wants to come back to Lapa Rios even though he never wants to go back anywhere else. This is great. We are curious to know what it was for him that made him such a fan of our lodge? The outside shower? the food? the wildlife you...

Thank you for a lovely stay, we had a great time. The forest walks with Danilo, Jose and the other guides were fabulous as was seeing dolphins with Harry the sailorman and we had the best Ayurvedic massage ever from the amazing "real healing" therapist Rita!

I had high expectations for this place, having seen it listed as one of the best eco lodges in the world. I have to say, we were all a little disappointed. I think the problem was that we visited Pacuare lodge first, which ended up being the highlight of our trip, and then Lapa Rios didn't really compare. When trying...

Right in the rainforest, animals everywhere, beautiful accommodations, amazing gluten free food options (I have celiac disease)- excellent trip. Incredible guides who introduced us to birding and hikes - so knowledgeable about all things plants, birds, insects, animals.
