We had reservations at Pratiksha River Retreat. Our taxi driver had the place on google maps and we were faithfully following the directions. We knew we were getting close. Eventually, the lady of google maps announced "you have reached your destination. Destination to your right" Total of five pairs of eyes were searching all around could not see our destination Pratiksha River Retreat anywhere. Thinking we have been led astray we were about to do a U-turn when by chance I happened to see the board of Pratiksha River Retreat with an arrow indicating direction. The board was small and most inconspicuous. It was pointing down a lane barely wide enough for our Cresta to squeeze through. Our Cresta did squeeze through and finally, we had reached our destination. The staff was already with a welcome drink, which we were told was made from rhododendron. To us, it tasted like Rooh Afza. Maybe that is how it tastes as we were served the same welcome drinks at Kausani and Nainital hotels where we stayed during this trip and those had also tasted like Rooh Afza. The location is very ideal and beautiful right on the bank of the Kosi River. Checkin was done and we were shown to our rooms.Reception, dining hall and sit-out are in the main two-storied building. Rooms are about 100meters or so from the main building and are separated by a lawn and a path leading to the swimming pool and the river. +Going out for a walk along the Kosi river is a good pastime and quite refreshing. In case you want to walk right up to the water through big, small and uneven boulder-strewn river bed, please exercise caution as one is likely to slip and may get injured. The rooms were quite nice and all of them were so built to have at least some view of the river. However, the best-unobstructed view was from our room 108, which is on the extreme left as viewed from the main building. The rooms and bathrooms were quite comfortable. Reception has to b informed at least 30 minutes or so to get hot water in the bathroom as the geysers are located outside at ground level.Wi-Fi is available in the main building only. There is no Wi-Fi in the rooms. We were told that during the floods all the Wi-Fi equipment and the cables connecting the main building and the rooms were washed away and were yet to be restored. As we went for walks, sightseeing and were with good friends had long chats, we did not miss the absence of WI-Fi in the rooms very much. If you are a type which can not do without Wi-Fi rethink about booking here.We had all our meals at the hotel. We had all our breakfast in the dining hall but quite a few lunch and dinner we had in our rooms. The service was quite good. The food was simple but tasty and wholesome. The staff was very helpful, polite, willing and eager to provide good service. Nice and relaxing stay.…
On request the staff arranged a wonderful candle light dinner. They were very warm, cooperative and helpful. Would highly recommend the property for their excellent service. The views of the river are breathtaking. It's scenic and situated on the beautiful banks of river Kosi.
Location is Awsome!! Nice and peaceful property with large lawns, pool and river access gate at the end of the lawn. Staff is very active, humble and always ready to serve with smiling faces. Mr. Sunil is very proactive, helpful to ensure that our stay is comfortable to their best. Food is delicious. Perfect place for Friends, Family and kids. Earlier plan was to stay for 02 nights but after seeing the property and service we decided to extend our stay. Planning to visit again with parents this time. Thanks Mr. Sunil and Team for making our stay amazing!!
I had visited this resort with my Family in December. We reached at night and checked-in. The location is excellent and was close to Dhikala gate and Bijrani zone, in the area where maximum resorts and ones like Taj, Club Mahindra, etc are located. It was a very quiet and peaceful place. The room was okay types. They had hot water running full time on request. Due to low occupancy as it was a weekday there was no buffet but we could order anything from the menu(dinner was included in the pkg). FOOD was awesum, very tasty. The staff was at our service and food was served hot and lipsmacking. We could hear the sound of the river flowing but could not see as it was dark in the night. On the first night we were able to see some movement of animals from our balcony in the garden/lawn. They were Wild Boars and some jackals/fox running at a distance, wow it was a great beginning to our stay in the resort. They ran away as I tried to click a picture due to flash light. Also pl note that the resort is nicely barricaded and IT IS COMPLETELY SAFE. I was travelling wiht my 6 year old daughter. Next day in the morning when we saw the view - IT WAS BREATHTAKING. River flowing in front of you just about 100 metres away, unobstructed CLEAR VIEW. White stones and mountain and river flowing in between them. THERE IS A HUGE BALCONY IN EACH ROOM. It was a super experience standing in the balcony. They have a lush green lawn in front of the property. MOST IMPORTANTLY the resort was a river touch property. In the morning we could cross the boundary and access the river from the property itself. It was an amazing view. We could watch and hear the birds chirping, see other cattle like horses etc drinking water form the river. We could walk and spend some family time at the river. There are very few properties that offer river access and Pratiksha is one of the best ones. With any other property without river access we would not have been able to enjoy and make memories like we did. Other night it was her nirthday and the resort arranged a cake for the occassion. During dinner on second night I asked for a sweet dish and they said it was not available as they have to make it. I was a little upset. To my surprise the staff (Shyam) immediately got the sweet dish requested by me from the shop and served us. I was quite surprised and 'touched' by the hospitality. AAJKAL AISI SERVICE MILNA BAHUT MUSHKIL HAI, they left no stone unturned in their service. The food was Really very good, they made evrything fresh for us. The breakfast too though it was not buffet, they served us each and everything that we asked for. Sitting in front of the river and having breakfast was just mesmorising. We had a stay in Dhikala forest for a day after check-out and the staff themselves offered us to let our car with driver being parked in their hotel. This helped us take just one bag and keep the remaining luggage in the car as it was parked safely in their resort. THIS IS A SERVICE LIKE OBEROI OR TAJ, LOCATION too likewise; just that the rooms were not luxurious but they were clean with AN EXCELLENT VIEW and I could not ask or expect more from the package cost. What I am trying to say is that if the rooms are upgraded a little more it can seriously be compared to a Taj which is less than half a kilometer form their resort. THE ROOMS NEED TO BE UPGRADED as the blanket was old with some bubbles which they changed next day but that was a little smaller in size, there was no heater in the room; tea bags etc were not there, carpet could have been cleaner, it was old; warm water kettle was given upon request - these are the only few things that the hotel needs to work upon - however I would still maintain that these things were not something that made us unhappy at the end. We could see clear skies with STARS TWINKLING in the sky from the balcony which cannot be seen in metro cities today. Also all rooms have privacy as each room is designed in such a way. The owner Mr Pratap Mehra is very kind to offer any help they could. I had booke d the resort few weeks in advance and requested them to keep a room with a good view. It was not just promised but it was done by Mr Pratpa Mehra. I would suggest to book directly with him. The staff Sunil Joshi, Shyam, and everyone else is very kind and helpful. +91 90122 26025, +91 74096 25847. Also - I do not get pleased easily and if I am giving it a thumbsup, it really is deserving. Especially if you are travelling with family then this this place is a MUST TRY. I am writng such a detailed review as I am really happy with my stay and the service and food, overall a memorable experience...…
Quite and nice place. Nice and supportive staff. The place is having open space to play. The Kosi River access is from the resort itself. Rooms are good and spacious. Food is delicious. Ample parking space . Resort is also having indoor games
