I am huge on reviews, and when reading these past reviews I really didn't want to even stay here. However, this was a family trip and my in laws highly recommended it so my husband and I went ahead and booked this hotel with them. I would like to say I am glad I actually did. The location is great compared to other hotel locations because I enjoy a quiet area and this was definitely at the end of the isla verde strip. If you want to go to eat or simply go to Pueblo or Walgreens, you can walk or take an uber. Upon arrival to the hotel we were greeted by Christian who sanitized our luggage and introduced us to how to take our temperature before every entry into the hotel. They are huge on temperature checks. We booked the Oceanfront room which was on the 7th floor. Great view! The bathtub itself could use some updating but the room itself was good. They offered room service which was a plus. There is a curfew currently in effect so everything shuts down at 11pm. There is a small casino in the resort where temperature check is required upon entry. The pool area is a good size with two pools, one is about 3.6 feet and the other goes up to 6 feet. There are also two hot tubs, lounge chairs in the green area if your not a fan of being close to the pool. Wrist bands must be worn to access the beach chairs on the beach and to get towels. We stayed from Tuesday to Sunday and it seems on the weekends they close the entire pool area from 3:00pm-3:30pm to clean everything. They have a pool bar as well so you can order drinks and some selected food items. As with other reviews I didn't encounter any rude workers which was also good.

Overall I would recommend this hotel because of the location and amenities.

Literally only yards away from the main runway of SJU, a 24/7 operation international airport, the jet noise is excessive throughout all hours of the day. As an engineer I would say the noise was in the 100+ dB range from within the room. Often the noise and jet vibration was enough to set off car alarms in the parking structure. This was infuriating at 3 a.m. Needless to say, sleeping quality was extremely poor at this stay.

The hotel itself is in an old skeleton. Most of it has been remodeled but some have not. For example the sliding glass door to the balcony was still old, did not slide open properly, and leak in air and noise. This was just not my room buy coworker rooms as well. Two of our rooms had water leak from somewhere (see picture). If there's wetness there's mildew so just be aware if you are allergic to mildew.

Located at the airport there was not much in the area around the hotel that was within walking distance.

Breakfast was horrendous, consisting of powder scramble eggs and microwaved bacon. Don't pay extra for it if you don't have too.

The beach was clean and looked nice but I was severely bitten by what the hotel call "no see flies." Bad on my part because I did not spray as suggested by the hotel posted note in the room closet.

Positive - only a $4 to $7 uber ride to/from the airport about 10 minutes.

However, I would not recommend this hotel to friends and family due to airport noise and location not close to restaurants and attractions.

Dear VDlong, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience with us. I am disappointed to read that you were not impressed with our hotel. Our staff works hard to maintain our facilities and though we always hope that our guests are able to see the hard work our staff puts into making sure our hotel is ready for our guests, we know that it will not always be the case. Thank you again, and on behalf of our entire staff, we hope to be of service again in the future. All the Best, Eduardo Rivera Hotel Manager

We were able to get checked in early to our room which was nice of them. The hotel itself is nothing amazing. The hallways and guest room smell of mildew. The rooms were ok, outdated. The only thing that saves this hotel is the nice outdoor area. Nice bar and restaurant on the patio. It has a nice beach that you can walk down.

Overall the service was terrible. The front desk agent that checked me in was not friendly. Our server at the restaurant wasn't too friendly. The bananas server was not friendly. I think your staff is forgetting that they are in the hospitality industry.

We sat at the outdoor restaurant/bar area and had drinks and a late lunch. It took 45 minutes to get a shrimp cocktail and a sandwich. The shrimp cocktail was no longer even cold, so we didn't eat it.

Leanna at Bananas need some training on food safety/sanitation, especially in the wake of Corona Virus and everything going on. For starters, she was extremely unfriendly to us and everyone I saw her talk to. She was wearing gloves while making my panini sandwich. I watched her answer her phone and text with the gloves on. Cell phone are covered in bacteria. Then pull my sandwich out of the panini maker, then touch her face and her hair, grab my bagel, touch someones credit card, then my sandwich again. Takes away the purpose of preparing my food with gloves if you touch everything with those gloves.

I grabbed a bagel at Bananas the night before because we had an early flight the next morning. I put it in the fridge. When I grabbed it in the morning and opened the container, there was a bug crawling on my bagel. My first thought was to check out the rest of the room, no other bugs were found. It is still gross and there is no way I would eat that. When I told the front desk, I said I don't want anything additional, I want a refund for that bagel. They said they couldn't help me because there wasn't a manager there at that time. In the end, it is only a couple dollars and not a huge deal, just another example of bad service.

Not impressed with the hotels level of service at all.

So we all understand and sympathize with hotels during COVID times...I give them more than the benefit of the doubt when it comes to staffing issues or any other kind of customer service related complaint...however I just need to highlight a few things.

During check in, no one offered or explained the benefits allotted at our platinum elite level. Typically, we get offered a complimentary upgrade to the room above where we booked depending on availability (which during COVID and the thanksgiving holiday were plentiful), some sort of extra welcome gift (points, free breakfast, etc). There were 9+ suites at this level available at time of check in and this was not offered. When I inquired about some of the perks afforded to our status level, the check in staff was rude and off putting as well...and I was simply inquiring about certain amenities that the property had/did not have. Ie some Marriot properties have a business hang out area that offers free drinks/food during certain hours. The front desk staff made me feel stupid for even inquiring about this.

The Bonvoy app is typically great for little requests as well, but only when the staff actually completes the requests. Before checking in I had requested a shaving kit, more toiletries (because I am an adult sized man and the tiny travel sized washes cover about half of my body), and extra blankets/pillows. None of these requests were met until I called down 2 days into my stay. This happened two other times with similar requests.

Also because of COVID, I had to request the coffee maker (ok fine), but once requested the staff brought the machine up without any supplies to use it (no coffee, no tea, and no cups) and when I asked the staff if they could bring them up, it took another 30 minutes. Also the ice buckets, while disposable, had to be requested in person and you had to pick them up from the front desk. Yet they could bring food/pillows/toiletries etc upon request??

Another day, Saturday, cleaning services came to clean the room at 8:30AM. 8:30AM! When we requested that they "come back later" they simply never came back. Another request for room cleaning services took 3+ hours for them to initiate cleaning as well. Nothing was done timely or with any air of customer service.

Overall the cost for the price of this "junior suite", 260/night (with marriot bonvoy
family discount) can afford you a much cuter, newer, and better decorated room.

Overall we had a good experience at this property. The room was smaller than I had expected and not super well set up for 4 (small closet, not much space for bags etc.). Once we woke up the next day and started to enjoy the facility the room mattered little. The pool was great, being on the beach was wonderful as I love the beach and the others in my family don't so I could enjoy it without making them miserable. The pool bar made it feel resort like. The food was fine, a regular american breakfast buffet, the pool side regulars were good, not amazing but solid. there is a lot of discussion about the airport - I would say this is a matter of perspective - we live on the outer edge of a city and the sound reminded me of an occasional train running by. It didn't disrupt us at all, but it wasn't unnoticeable. There is a shower accessible from the pool making it possible for us to enjoy a day at the pool and beach after checking out and shower and change to comfortably get on the place for the flight home which was a big plus. From a price/quality perspective during a holiday season this was a solid choice and we had a great getaway with our tween and teen!

My husband and I stayed here for one night at the end of our six nights in San Juan. We initially visited the beach on a day pass from the hotel we were staying at in San Juan and decided to extend our stay to stay another night here. I will start by saying the staff here is extremely friendly - everyone we encountered was very pleasant and we enjoyed a few upgrades due to our Bonvoy status.

As others noted, the hotel is located across the street from the airport and the planes are very loud above head and was very noisy in our room (1200) which was on the side of the hotel facing the expressway. The room we stayed in was very dated and very much in need of upgrades. The furniture was scratched, carpet in our room was damp, the A/C was very loud and couldn't be adjusted and the thermostats are not functioning. We did have a small fridge and microwave in the room. The cable was also sporadic and we had to restart the TV a few times to get it to work. We only stayed one night so tolerated this but I wouldn't have stayed any longer. The bed was incredibly hard and pillows way too soft. The room also had an artificial fragrance smell to it which was not pleasant.

The beach area is small but nice and there is staff to set up chairs and umbrellas so you're not playing a game of people claiming chairs etc. They do clean up around 5:30 and let you know about 30 mins prior that they take down the chairs at that point. We found the pool area to be a little too crowded and filled with families with small children and blasting music so chose to spend our time on the beach. They have sunscreen and bug spray to use (use it - the bugs are insanely bad, I came home covered in "no see um" bites despite best efforts of using spray).

We didn't use any of the casino facilities nor did we eat - food was very expensive and the drinks were also priced high (two glasses of wines and two mojitos ran $50, Medalla beer $7). It's a quick Uber ride to other restaurants and bars near by and about 15 minutes if that to Old San Juan. While I enjoyed our time on the beach I would look to stay elsewhere next time if I want to be beachfront in SJ.

Prior to staying at this property for the first time, I came to Trip Advisor like always. Some of the reviews are pretty brutal, but we booked anyway.

The truth is, it is a gorgeous view right on the beach with good Marriott hospitality. Isla Verde beach is gorgeous and always has been. The Pina coladas are made with love, and the service that we received was excellent overall.

More truth: the food (we ordered lunch by the pool) is just so-so, but to get authentic PR food one must not depend on the Marriott. The service by the pool and inside of the property was prompt, friendly, and kind. Attention to wiping surfaces and keeping the place tidy was noticed, and the room/bed linens/toiletries were keeping with Marriott quality one would expect.

This is not the Ritz, but it was safe, clean, and hospitable. My good friend and I had a very relaxing and fun little getaway; I would consider visiting this location again.

Thank you Marriott!!

This hotel never disappoints! From its clean rooms and gorgeous, turquoise ocean views, beachfront location just minutes from the airport, to the friendly employees who sincerely aim to please, every time I have stayed here I have thought to myself, wow, this is a well managed property that would make Marriott proud. I spent another night here before a flight out and Orlando, the Assistant Guest Services Manager, honored my room preference request as a Titanium member, and I was extremely happy with my 11th floor room. He was welcoming and professional. I was able to check in early and enjoy the beautiful day at the hotel’s beach. This was much appreciated! Later in the afternoon, I walk walking with my used beach towels and saw Orlando outside checking on guests and operations in the pool/restaurant/ bar area and he insisted on taking the used towels I was carrying and returned them for me. He went above and beyond. Every employee was cheerful and working hard to provide excellent service. The ocean views and beachfront hotel atmosphere at this property make it a great place to stay. The rooms are very clean and have outdoor balconies. You can drive to the airport in less than 10 minutes. Highly recommend!

My boyfriend and I stayed here from March 17, 2021 to March 21, 2021. We just had an OK time for the following reasons (and the majority of these reasons are due to unforeseen circumstances on the Hotel’s part):

1) due to COVID, no one is allowed to go up to any of the bars. However, the hotel overall was pretty understaffed, so there would be quite a few guests waiting to be served by one bartender. The service overall at the resort was pretty slow.

2) there is a curfew in Puerto Rico (12am to 5am), but the resort shut the casino down by 1030pm and the beach workers pulled the umbrellas and the beach chairs by 5pm.

3) my boyfriend and I decided to go during typical spring break time, so we were slightly disappointed by the amount of loudness and foolishness that occurred during our stay. We smelled marijuana often.

4) there is a restaurant on the resort called Sirena. The restaurant shut down one night due to a wedding. My boyfriend and I were disappointed by this.

5) the hotel pool and jacuzzi could be a lot cleaner, our room could have been a little cleaner, and the seating areas outside by the restaurant could have been cleaner too

Pros:

1) everyone at the hotel is pleasant
2) super easy to get an Uber
3) San Juan is right there/the hotel is in a great location (close to the airport and other neat spots to explore)
4) we loved the scenery from our ocean view room
5) the hotel itself was pretty affordable

You can take your own -- we did. We uber'd to the grocery store down the road and got what we wanted for our stay. We did order from the bar if we were eating at the restaurant, but not while at the pool. Hope that helps.
