Our family, along with a few other couples and their kids, had stayed at Dark Forest Retreat in Amboli, and it exceeded all our expectations. The location is perfect, situated away from the crowded markets, providing a peaceful and serene environment.

The resort is very well-planned, offering comfortable and spacious accommodations. It’s a fantastic spot for families to spend quality time together. We appreciated how thoughtfully everything was arranged, ensuring a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

We also explored Amboli, and the retreat's location made it convenient to visit nearby attractions. Most places of interest were within a comfortable distance from the hotel, adding to the overall convenience.

The peaceful surroundings and well-maintained facilities made our stay truly special. We enjoyed every moment and found it to be a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Dark Forest Retreat in Amboli is highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy nature and spend quality time with family in a tranquil setting. We would love to return for another visit!

Nestled amidst the majestic hills of Amboli, within the rich deciduous forests of the Western Ghats is the Dark Forest Retreat, a world of it's own in the calm hamlet of Chaukul. We went on a trip to Amboli during April, and reached the top of the hill late in the evening, only after negotiating through the meandering ghats covered in pitch dark canopies. After having tried many other well known hotels in Amboli, this time we decided to try our luck at the nearby Dark Forest Retreat. And trust me, that turned out to be the best decision ever! This place is just loaded with goodness that cannot be explained in words! Lush gardens with colourful flowers, decorated pavements, an exotic swimming pool, you have all you need for a splendid vacay! And not just the outside, this resort hosts an impressive inside too! The rooms are just chic...modern, spacious, spotlessly clean with all necessary amenities.. If you opt for one of the family cottages, they are blessed with a balcão with hanging jhoolas(swing) for leisure.. Aa if that wasn't enough, this resort also an amazing restaurant which makes mouthwatering delicacies from different cuisines, including local Malwani dishes on request. The staff is extremely warm, affectionate and will go an extra mile to make your stay memorable. The owner of the property Mr Dinesh too is very humble and resourceful. He takes personal interest to make sure that their customers are well taken care of. It was great to hear him on his experience in creating this wonderful project and managing it so well for the last so many years, out of his tremendous experience and knowledge. His efforts and thoughtful management can be clearly seen in the way the premises have been kept, leaving no stone unturned unto perfection! The Dark Forest Retreat would be one of my top recommendations for a stay at Amboli, whether for a group of friends or family they have all you need and more! I'm totally looking forward to visit them again! Thanks to team Dark Forest Retreat for an awesome time!

Good clean rooms, homely atmosphere, helpful staff, good food, good Wi-Fi for connectivity as most cellular signals unavailable, restaurant staff tries to comply to your needs. Excellent surroundings, beautiful location, enjoyed watching sambar, bison as well as many birds in and around the resort. Good to visit during monsoons and winters.

We were a bog group & stayed there for 2 nights and enjoyed the stay. The location is real good among the mountains and away from the city center.

The resort is quite spacious with rooms also spread apart. Rooms are quite spacious and well maintained. Hotel staff is very co-operative and give good service. They even made a bonfire in the evening for us. Restaurant also is good and they serve good food.

Pool is quite good but at a height and far away from rooms.

Sports equipment they have but are hardly useful. Table Tennis table is kept in open and has got deshaped in rain. Pool table is still workable but kept in a very congested pace with a pole and window very nearby and if you want to have a shot from that location than it is hardly possible.

Over all we really enjoyed our two night stay.

Although we were on a short 1 day business trop to dark forest the hospitality of every staff of Dark Forest Resort was par excellence .
The resort location is excellent.
A special mention to the food they serve .
In the 3 meals we had , we couldn’t find a single flaw in any dish.
Keep up the good work and we are surely travelling again to this property .

Beautiful well maintained property in the lap pf nature! Amboli has been a favorite destination for us. We usually take the drive from Hubli during the beginning of the monsoon. This is when Amboli comes alive , the Sahyadri ranges in all its glory. This time we decided to go during the summer just for a night's stay. Makarand welcomed us with a smile and also upgraded us to an independent cottage , thanks to another group that wanted rooms next to each other. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Quality of food was good and we especially enjoyed the breakfast. A nice place to chill with family , kids can have a good time too. The pool , although small , was well maintained. But the chlorine level in the water was a little too high. Overall highly recommended for a weekend getaway!

The resort is spread over a large area. The location really feels like its a jungle. The staff is very nice, helpful and co-operative. We got upgraded to a garden view cottage. It's a large room with a large bathroom and beautiful interiors as well. Being a jungle you need to keep the doors and windows shut to avoid insects from entering. Food is decent. Certainly recommend as a very good option to stay and explore Amboli.
