Stayed here for 3 nights, hotel has a certain charm about it! Location by the beach, could not fault, The restuarant was fab, you must try their fish and also sold beer:) The rooms were simple and clean. Staff were okay.

The location is the highpoint. The rooms may be a little pricey (especially considering how few people were staying here in late February) but it is worth if you want to be right on the beach. The beach near the hotel has some shade and was less busy than the area closer to town. From the beach you must climb up a rocky area to reach the lounge chairs near the hotel (some photos do not show the rocks). Occasionally young gentlemen who weren't staying at the hotel hung out in the shade near the hotel's beach to leer at women and urinate (this could be the case at any hotel in the area).
The complimentary breakfast was simple (veg omelet, toast, tea, and fresh juice) but good for us.
Staff were helpful in taking food orders, calling taxis, and arranging massages.

We went for a weekend stay on the 15th and 16th of Jan. On the second day morning we had asked them to clean the room while we were away, only by evening we noticed that our JBL speaker was missing; we made a complain and they were like there are only 3 ppl working. We asked to check the cctv and found that cctv was not covered just in front of our room and they casually said sorry they r not responsible.. Not a safe place I would say.
Secondly Food is overpriced for the quality and quantity. Comparitively 36 palms served gud food and they charged reasonably.. poor service .. overall I wud say a good view but rest is not gud.. Food and service worst.

I stayed in this hotel with my family in AC Delux room. I noticed during night that the room door doesn't have a bolt to lock the room from inside. The only lock it had could be opened with the duplicate key from outside. Which means anyone who has a duplicate key can directly enter your room. I reached out to hotel staff to get another room that can be locked from inside. They told that they do not have any. During night there were only 2 staff members in the entire hotel (a guard and a receptionist).
I also told this to Arun (Hotel manager) when he came to hotel in the morning, the only response I got is "Yes hotel rooms should have locks but they don’t" . Please find image attached showing room door from inside.
Apart from the safety issue, these guys are fooling guests. This is not a resort, a small building with ~10 rooms. For the price they charge (around 5000Rs/-), you can get the best resorts nearby. The rooms are damn small and they show incorrect pictures of room on website like Make My Trip.
I booked this hotel because people were praising about the location of this hotel compared to other best resorts nearby. But I felt it is not worth. Yes this resort in on the beach but the other best resorts are just 10 meters away from beach and some of them also have a sea view.
NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL

I traveled to cherai last month (Feb 2011) by booking the room well in advance. I was accompanied with my wife and 2 years boy. By the time we reached the resort it was 1 PM in the afternoon. My kid was very hungry and when we went to the restaurant which is at the top floor. Manager Arun told us that there is a buffet going on and you need to wait minimum 1 hour. To my wonder that buffet is for hotel guests only but he did not allowed us to join it and told if you cannot wait go else where. Very rude behavior with family and kids...I immediately vacated the room and taken a beautiful room near by. I even got a mini cottage for half of the price of Sea line resort. Very worst staff...never ever choose with resort.

The place the resort is located is pretty awsome.... far away from the crowd and beach front....a pleasant view from the rooms..... but the food and restaurant is really a waste..... overpriced rooms.... promised with a complimentary breakfast....we were offered only bread toast n eggs..... no buffet....when asked for more the staff said it will be charged extra.... staffs behavior is very unpleasant.... will not recommend to anybody..... resort without food and restaurant will definitely not attract guests.....

Good budget hotel but is quite expensive for the facilities they offer. Excellent location. Right on the beach. We visited during the lean season. So the resort was being run with minimal staff. The restaurant was not functioning most of the time. Breakfast was bread, juice and provided us with omelette on request... Quite expensive for the room facilities and quality... Cherai has so many options. I recommend that you look at other options.

Ofcourse this is the only hotel lying so near to the sea.... But this can't be called a 'resort'..actually its shoreline or less than a hotel.. Surely it is an overpriced place with least hospitality.. The so called restaurant is for name sake.. We were asked to eat food from outside since their kitchen is not working.. This should be your last option in selecting cherai resorts...

Basically this is a motel in a prime location. The room we had was steps from the beach, but for the price I expected a nicer, cleaner room with more amenities. This was pretty much an overpriced backpacker style place. I would have spent a little bit more to stay in one of the nicer resorts on Cherai Beach, where we ended up going for our meals anyway. I would not call this place a resort.

Hi ,thank you for staying with us and finding time to review our hotel.Sorry to hear that you were not happy during the stay.We were unfortunate that the government put the rocks in front of these ground floor rooms on safety measures. In other words it's tsunami protection. That's where we built the steps from the beach and that's the proximity to the shore. The price should meet the expenses incurred in maintenance since we're close to the beach with the salty moisture which harms all the appliances..
