This hotel serves only to support the marina, and due to its remote location is able to charge what they like. Food very ordinary, staff are most friendly but slow and sloppy, typically Caribbean! Rooms are dusty, dirty and in need of an upgrade. The hotel and bar serves a purpose and as such it doesn't need to be grand...

Terrific food, great setting, very helpful staff, but a little remote. The kitchen staff work really hard producing fresh food. Wifi can be a little iffy, but who cares when ones on holiday. Good bar with a decent coffee machine and it also does a fab breakfast

The only place to eat within many miles, was seated a nice table and my order was taken within 10 min. And again about 5 min later and again about 5 min later and again 5 min later then they got it wrong? Good luck here!

We stayed one night before joining our friends on their boat. It was a clean and comfortable room. Air conditioning was very good. Large shower, room was not large but plenty of room. Some rooms face the jungle, but ours was on the Marina side so had a small balcony. The rooms on that side are slightly more expensive. It...

We spent three months at the marina while circumnavigating the Caribbean . We loved the location! Within 10 minutes of hiking from the marina grounds we begin seeing and hearing lots of wildlife. We saw howler monkeys on almost every hike and white faced monkeys on occasion. We were not birders at the time but we have since learned we...

Really cool to have crossed the gatun locks though! Seems to be laid back place for retired rich people, quiet atmosphere. Nice little pool (only for sleepover clients though) and beautiful boats. Seafood was okay and the name is changed to Docks.

Stayed two nights and loved the relaxation. My room's private patio, overlooking the Marina, was delightful. Sat out looking at the boats, enjoying the breeze and the sun, sipping wine. Terrific! Had several meals at "The Dock" restaurant. Food and service were very good. And the option of dining outdoors was a nice bonus. Only downside comment is that the...

The Shelter Bay marina is a mile west of the seawall that marks the northern entrance to the Panama canal, near the former Ft. Sherman and across the bay from the city of Colon. Three of us spent four days here with a skipper who spent two weeks. Marina manager John Holly was particularly helpful in getting a reliable cab...

We've been to Shelter Bay marina a bunch of times after visiting Gatun Locks with friends. We've also stayed there once for a weekend. Each time we've been delighted with the food, service and facilities. It's a hidden gem among a paucity of choice when visiting the locks, the expansion visitor centre or fort San Lorenzo further up the coast.
