Colorful, fresh, and vibrant are not words ordinarily used to describe Rincón (a relatively laid back surfing town on the far west side of the island of Puerto Rico), but they’re a perfect fit for the Aqua Marine Beach Club where we’ve just stayed for several nights. The owners, Tim and Carmen Ballering, have transformed what used to be a relatively small and somewhat isolated hotel into an open and energized beach club with lots of color, sound, and energy. The entire staff was wonderful. The new general manager, Jorge, was welcoming from the start and stepped up on several occasions to make sure our stay was pleasant and enjoyable. Jennifer was also incredibly helpful. One amazing addition to the property is a bright, clean and fanciful “milk bar” that serves the most delicious handcrafted gelatos and other homemade desserts. I’m talking about top notch, small batch, Italian gelato served in a bright, clean, and creative environment. BTW- they also serve delicious food and amazing coffee. Our server, Erica, was particularly helpful in sharing information about the area. Another server, Gregory, was also great. And bartender, Zack, was a tremendous source of good information, and libations! Bottom line- if you’re looking for a place to stay in Rincón that has a great location just steps from the beach with a little Miami energy sprinkled on top, then the Aqua Marine Beach Club is the place to be. All in all we had a great experience and will definitely be coming back first chance we get.

I did not stay in the rooms on this trip so I will not comment there. But I did visit the bar and walk around the property. I personally do not like it. It seems too flashy and “showy” to me. I think it is out of place in Rincon. This is a place that might be better in South Beach or maybe Las Vegas. I much preferred this property when it used to be the Blue Boy Inn. In my opinion, a small, intimate, high quality Inn such as Blue Boy — which was a favorite of many repeat visitors to Rincon — is preferable to a giant fake cruise ship like Aqua Marina. But I guess it depends what you like.

This "Beach Club" is not on the beach. It is near a beach, but not on the beach.
There are other hotels in Rincon that are actually ON the beach -- including some that are less expensive than this one. I prefer to be ON the beach.
The Aqua Marina Beach Club is also loud, at times. It seems to me to be trying for a "party atmosphere." That is fine, if it is what you enjoy. But if you are going to Rincon for the low-key surf town environment, or to get some R&R, you might prefer a place that is less like a frat party with loud music playing into the night hours.

Came here with my girlfriend after a long search for crab legs on the island and from what we could find this is the only place! The crabby bag #3 was one of the best seafood boils I’ve had. Would recommend anyone looking for a good seafood spot 10/10.

Justin was a fantastic server/manager! He spent a great deal of time assisting us. He made great recommendations and was very patient with explanations. The food was absolutely delicious!!! We are visiting and he even gave suggestions for sight seeing. The whole experience was a great time!

Excellent band drinks and eats! Robert is the best waiter around.will be coming back for sure! The pool area is great as is all the staff. They accommodated our party of 8 without thinking twice. Great ice cream shop too. Right next to the beach great time guaranteed.

Review for those considering on coming here to celebrate a bachelorette, wedding, or a weekend away. DONT.
Came here with friends after decided not to follow through with our house rental and boy was that a mistake. The house rental meant we would have to stock our own food and toiletries and that still ended up being the case for us. We also liked the idea of having staff at a hotel but just like a rental, you're on your own after 9. Cross your fingers and pray nothing goes wrong or that you don't run out of hot water and toilet paper like us.
We were convinced by the staff that their pool parties get busy and the only way to secure space by the pool was to rent a cabana in advance. We agreed to rent one but then was advised we have 8 people which would call for two cabanas. The total was $789 for this rental and supposedly came with drinks, food, cake and bachelorette party decor for the day (along with a server). The day of our "pool party" came and no one was at the pool. Basically, we were paying $789 to sit at the same seats as the day prior except we were gonna be served and have bachelorette decor. As of 10am when this was supposed to start, there was no decor on the cabana. We asked the front desk to switch our day and she reminded us they are doing this at no additional cost- no additional cost for what? They didn't even have the cabanas decorated so this would have been in their favor. The next day... same thing! She told us that people are gonna come meanwhile I have spoke To locals who said they have not seen that place or pool busy in months and suggested we go to another pool where there was an actual party, a live dj and no cover charge!
The owner has been requested by phone number numerous times and she does not return calls and the hotel basically told us to eat our way into the $789 we paid because they aren't refunding it. We cannot eat $789 in one day if we tried!
If you're having a wedding here please note there are cockroaches all around and even in the pool. Another thing to note is that they are still working on rooms and you can hear tapping and banging from the rooms that are not yet complete. The food says it's open at 9 but it was not, it's advertised you can eat until 9pm but you can't find anyone!
Upon arrival they knew we had an off hour check in and they never reset the doors with the codes they gave us and we were locked out. No one is conveniently on the premises and so calling in the middle of the night led us to a lot of voicemails before we were able to get through.
Overall this place just needs to do better. I don't always agree that the customer is right but if we laid out $789 for a service that we didn't receive, refund us! Don't throw an unsigned contract specific to hosting parties at the party our way to avoid the refund as the terms and info on that unsigned contract were not applicable to what we wanted.
Highly recommend that you rent an air bnb or another hotel as the price you pay for this hotel does not match what you get. The photos online are proof that no one comes here and so the vacancy should be telling enough. Also, don't be fooled like we were when reviewing the live stream from this place, only time they have people here is when they have live music for a few hours then everyone runs off the property

This was the third visit here by you or your group. The ladies from your group who were here when you reserved our cabanas in January kept saying the place was amazing, and it is. This review is based on you not getting away with your demands and not on the truth of what happened. You complained that the pool was not busy, but your reservation was for a private bachelorette party, not a public pool party. You wanted all three cabanas because you invited a large group of friends to it. Your friends not showing up was not under our control. There are no refunds for events canceled last minute. This is a policy that all hotels and venues have. Since August, you wanted to have your event here. We, like every other venue, require a deposit to hold space. In September, you reiterated that you wanted to reserve the cabanas for March. January, you put down a deposit to secure the space for your event. We, scheduled staff to work your event. It would be unfair to the employees to say, ‘Hey, the guest decided not to do the party at the last minute, so there is no work for you today, and you have a short week.’ The decorations were not up at 10 AM because the party was scheduled for 12 to 7 PM. At 10 AM, Michelle was preparing to decorate, but you told her not to because you canceled the party. The door lock code did not work when you arrived at 2:45 AM but failed to share that you asked via text for a 4:45 AM check-in. Our door locks activate an hour before check-in. Then you wrongfully claimed that no one was on the premises to help you, yet within five minutes of your call, one of our people met you, opened the door, and changed the check-in time so the code was active. In your review, you stated that construction occurred during your stay. The renovation of the property, which cost over two million dollars and included the addition of seven rooms, was completed last year. Part of our project was connecting to the public sewer. Despite others being closer to the ocean, we are the only business at Black Eagle Marina that has done so. We are also the only business at the Marina with solar and generator backup to ensure food safety and guest comfort. At considerable cost, we also made most areas of the property accessible so all guests can enjoy the space. We are one of the best and cleanest places in Rincon, and we are proud of it.
