We loved this sweet little boutique gem right on Sandy Beach. The rooms were clean, the bed comfy, the air con worked well and the bathroom was super clean. The restaurant, (open for lunch and dinner) serves delicious food and the restaurant staff and host couldn't have been lovelier. There were just a few tiny touches that could have made a great experience even a little more enhanced. While the hotel is located right on the beach, they don't have beach chairs. (???) There is a container kiosk that rents them close to the hotel (not related to the hotel) but as a solid boutique with only 8 rooms to let, Tamboo should give serious consideration to investing in a few chairs for its guests to sign out and borrow. The hotel does provide beach towels, but does not provide daily housecleaning. While there are coffee machines and packets in the guest rooms, it would also be a nice gesture to have a small percolator or pot of hot coffee for guests (even for purchase, it doesn't have to be free) who don't want to make their own. That said, there is a lovely coffee stand up the road within walking distance, this was more for convenience sakes. Tamboo is a great find and we will be back. If you go, say hello to Pablo the security guard (super safe area btw) , he is a rockstar and we loved knowing he was there to greet us at the end of the day.

It never ceases to amaze me how people can stay in the same hotels and have such different perceptions of the place. Tamboo Beside the Point Inn is such a place. I suspect much of it comes from the fact that the others here might not have experience with Puerto Rico hotel prices and therefore don't know that a $75-$100 beachfront hotel here is budget accomodations. Anything under $100 is hard to find and would compare to a $30-$45 room in the Yucatan for example. So I suspect that many people who book a room for $100-$150 at Tamboo Beside the point are expecting 4 or even 5 star accomodations since that is what they would get for that price in many other caribbean/mexican locations, but those who know Rincon and PR know it is not the same here. All that being said, this is suppossed to be a review, so let me do that. I stayed in late Sept. of 2006 and got my room for $75. First, I was given a coupon for 2 free welcome drinks at the Tamboo bar- a nice touch and not something I ecpected from a budget hotel. The nice front desk lady who booked me in was extremely helpful, cheerful, polite, etc. The owner of the hotel happened to be nearby and the front desk lady voluntarily introduced me to the owner and he was also very polite and said if I needed anything at all to let him know. My room was probably the worst location in the building since it was in the very back right beside the kitchen. However, with my door closed I couldn't hear any of the outside activities. The room itself was quite basic, but it was clean and had a good working remote control tv with satellite tv, a refridgerator (another unexpected perk), great working AC. The furnishings were dated and very rudimentry-I could understand some complaints about the thrift-store furniture, but come on...does furniture really ruin a place or a vacation? The decore was caribbean and cheerful, the room was spacious as was the bathroom. The showers do have the on-demand hot water system, but it provided me with all the hotwater I ever needed and certainly you don't have to worry about using up all the water in a tank under this system. Again, those familiar with PR hotels are used to seeing these, but I can see how they could be disturbing to others. For me, the very best part of this small inn is its location. As wonderful as Rincon beaches are, not all of them are great, big wave, sandy beaches. Those directly in front of Beside the Point ARE the best in Rincon and on the entire island of PR. Really. You'll see a lot of surfing directly in front of the hotel, which was fun for me to watch since I've not been around surfing very much. The best place to sit and enjoy the beach, the surfers, etc is in the Tamboo bar/restaurant. Again, I thought it was an outstanding bar. There was a pretty good number of people most of the time, but the atmosphere stayed civil and clean enough that even kids were fine eating there (it is also a sort-of restaurant). ANd while there was a festive atmosphere at night, I had no problems sleeping in my room which was just beside the kitchen, therefore near the bar. Last but not least, whatever the opinion of the inn, the rooms, the bar, the staff, the beach, and the amenities, I suspect even the worst reviewers of this hotel would agree it is located in the best part of Rincon. It's on a barely used little street, the area is remote enough to feel secluded and be slow=paced caribbean-ish feel, but still has another bar or two and at least one small restaurant within walking distance, and those are all unique, neat little places. If you need more info, e-mail me at sunnyspottravel@yahoo.com.

Situated on a beautiful cove on the Atlantic, Tamboo is a great choice if you are more a night person than a morning person. There is an on-site bar/restaurant that serves great local specialities. It also includes music (live or DJ) weeknights till midnight and 2am Fridays and Saturdays. My room wasn’t noisy (room #1) luckily but it’s a bit buzzy overall if you’re looking for a quiet escape. You can rent surfboards and hire a surf instructor next door at Rd 2 Happiness.

What a great spot. We are staying across the street and decided to hit the beach in front of the bar for some sun. We waited all morning to grab a craft cocktail and lunch at their waterfront bar. Let me just tell you the food and drinks were worth the wait, it was hard not to keep ordering more. I recommend the fish tacos and ramen bowl for sure. It does not disappoint. Our server, Nadu made it even better. I run an event venue and upscale bar on Hatteras Island in NC and hospitality runs through my veins. Nadu has it, personality, service, attention to detail… she’s on it. Our dinner inks never ran dry and we never had an empty plate in front of us. She completed the experience. We will be back, maybe even tomorrow!!!

If you're looking for an extremely barebones/ Airbnb experience then go ahead and book.

The rooms were decent, and check in went smoothly even though I arrived after the desk was closed. Directions were very clear on how to get your key and access the gate for parking.

The room I stayed in was alright. The bed was old, with a mattress topper that made the bed sheet constantly come off the bed. Overall the bed was very uncomfortable. You have no maid service so you need to ask for more towels which isn't the biggest deal but different than any other hotel typically.

As for the beach, it's littered with debry from the ocean as well as broken tree limbs. There is beach access but there are NO CHAIRS available from the hotel. So be prepared to bring your own or buy some when you get there. (Or maybe use one of the tree limbs littered all over the beach as a chair) This was unexpected and not really advertised on the website.

The pool is small, which isn't really a big deal. But it's basically beside the restaurant and entrance to the rooms so it feels very tight.

The restaurant seemed alright, I only had drinks. The drinks are pretty pricey compared to the other places I went to in the area of Rincon. And after ordering my drink, my girlfriend did sit down on a cockroach larger than a half dollar. But the restaurant is outside so it can be expected.

The hotel itself is not within walking distance to ANYTHING. There are no Ubers and I had no luck with the multiple taxi companies I was recommended. This kinda sucked since the bar and restaurant closes at 9pm.

Me personally, I won't go back but maybe some people like the quiet barebones experience. Just be prepared to bring your own chairs for the beach, and maybe a cooler so you can have drinks as well.

Hello Andrew, Thank you for taking your time to leave us a review for your stay. We would to thank you for letting us know about the bedsheets coming off making the bed uncomfortable and we are expecting new deep pocket fitted sheets to fix this. Usually in Airbnb you do not receive maid service so we are a little confused with your expectations. We do provide fresh towels and provide room refresh if inquired as you stated. We are a small family owned hotel that does not have beach chairs available at the beach there is a rental 2 lots down the road for them at very good price. We would have recommended them if inquired for suggestions as we are always available through the phone we sent you a full local guide with our walking distance options. We did recommend on our website renting a car for your stay advising of not many Uber or taxi services. We do understand if you were expecting a more luxurious experience that bigger hotels offer but for this we do recommend you do not book through Airbnb on your next vacation.

Stayed at Tamboo with my family of 4 which included two teen daughters. This was my first time in Rincon. I was seeking a small beachfront hotel and this certainly was a perfect find. In seeing the other places I was looking at, I couldn’t have been happier with my selection. We stayed in suite 7 which had a small separate living room with kitchenette. Our room had a small covered balcony with partial views of the ocean. What I loved: Location on Sandy beach was perfect. Several bars, restaurants, coffee shops in walking distance. Rural feel. Room was updated (my girls loved the LED colored lighting), very clean, comfortable beds/linens, kitchenette with the essentials. The grounds are well kept and secure with many plants, flowers and outdoor seating areas. Small, clean dipping pool. Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating and communicated well via text before arrival and during stay. Secure free parking across street. Things to be aware of that didn’t bother me but may be important to others: Sensitive septic - can’t flush toilet paper. This didn’t bother me at all but my husband was really taken back by this so figured it’s worth mentioning. Sandy beach is a natural beach. (like most in Rincon). Beautiful and wild, there may be some palms, coconuts, seaweed and ants on the beach. Two story hotel with no elevator. Overall loved my stay and would highly recommend for couples looking for a nice surf getaway.

What a joke, the hotel "gave away" our reservation, will not issue a refund, will not honor the reservation for a future date.

Good thing anyway, the only feedback from friends is the hotel has roaches, blood-stained sheets, and backed-up toilets. Dodged a bullet, i guess.

Not to mention my cousin is POSTIVE she got Covid from a staff member in their resturaunt, lol.

We belive that if you would have checked in on the original date of your reservation that you did not show up you would have had an awesome experience at Tamboo. We are in disbelief that after we tried to reason with you and you mistreated our staff members you had the audacity to write a review with misinformation. We are a hotel endorsed by the PR Tourism company, which is constantly evaluated and inspected for our outsanding hospitality. We stand by our guests experiences and we pride in providing the best customer service possible. It was not the case due to the response we recieved from you.

We had such a pleasant stay at Tamboo this past weekend I had to hurry up and write a review. The room was amazing, and remodeled but the bed was SOOOOOO comfortable I slept 8 hours straight, which I didn't experience a long time ago. The room was SUPER clean, it has a good size room. It was silent even though the room is right in front of the street. We enjoyed it so much we'll be back for my birthday. I cannot emphasize enough how comfortable the bed was. I totally recommend your stay at Tamboo while in the Rincon area. Javier and Moraima were super nice, recommending places to eat and where to watch the sunset. At night star gazing at the beach was very nice as well.
Can't wait to be back!

The place was not quiet at all, the whole time
We were there they were building the pool, super loud! Lots of mosquitoes, place needs to be kept better and the wifi wasn’t working! The surrounding needs some upkeep. Beach not safe for kids too rough and lots of garbage around beach too. Will
Not recommend this place. Rincón and PR has many other places much better to stay than this place! Poor management!
