Detailed Reviews
We are part of a group of local families that selects local hotels to spend our hard earned money and help move the economy in our island. This month we selected Villa Cofresí because we were doing business near Rincón. We rented the most expensive rooms, they had a great ocean view and sunset view. The rooms were modern and very clean, something hard to find these days. The beach has lost almost all of its shore, bring water shoes as there are rocks in the beach, but it is a family friendly beach. You can walk to the right and find a larger shore at the hotel next door. We had a great time taking into consideration the new COVID-19 rules. If you are using the pool I suggest you get your turn first thing in the morning, you will be with fewer people and the pool will be cleaner. We dined and had breakfast at the hotel restaurant, most of the waiters were great and attentive. We met another entrepreneur among one of our waiters and we had an excellent time. Because we are a huge mixed family (9 in total), we dined right beside the main dinning room and had a nice large table arranged just for us. The menu prices are reasonable, but the food quality is just ok. I really was expecting better quality food, for the price I was totally not expecting reheated food (like the “tostones de pana”). On the morning of our last day, we were waiting to get breakfast near our usual spot, the morning was quite busy, so after 15 minutes of waiting and no one available to serve us, we decided to “help” and arranged our tables ourselves in the exact way they arranged them for all our past meals. The second we got the tables together, Alejandro, our waiter for that day scolded us in a very rude way and yelled at us that what we were doing was “illegal” because COVID-19 rules forbid to get more than 6 people at the same table, we politely apologized and told him we were helping doing the same arrangement we had for all of our meals at the exact same spot. He was visibly having a hard time that day, he told us that “ok” we could have the table arranged that day (after yelling at us it was illegal). We told him we were vegetarian, so we would take our “breakfast burrito” with no meat. He brought our burrito with no meat, but our potatoes had bacon! We told Alejandro that our plate had meat and repeated we were vegetarian and his response was “you told me you were vegetarian when asking about the burrito but said nothing about the side dishes!”. We were completely stunned, this is the first time a waiter had addressed to us in this way, he was having a hard day and almost ruined ours with his behavior. He never got a glass of water for my son, he never brought water for us, period. I wish he would get some classes about treating people. We are probably not going back to Villa Cofresí because of this reason alone. We got up and only left a 15% tip to let him know about how bad he treated us. We should have left 0%, but he probably has a family to feed and we are not monsters. In summary we recommend this hotel if you need a clean place to stay with a good beach and vibe, but you will need to eat elsewhere.

This hotel has been around for a long time and is a favorite to locals and visitors. It's a wonderful place to spend time. There was something going on all the time. We only ate at the restaurant for breakfast...which left a lot to be desired, but we had a large room with a full kitchen so we really didn't care. The hotel is centrally located and you can walk to town, stores, grocery store...anything you need. The pool was nice, the bar area was a lot of fun, you can watch for whales and it was a great place to relax.

This is a nice hotel on the water but no real beach. The water comes right up to the hotel/rocks and at night the deck can get wet. We stayed two nights at this hotel. There was not a lot of people at the hotel most likely because of the time of the year however, they put us in the back of the hotel overlooking the parking lot - not a good way to get a positive review or return visit. Our room had a strange smell coming from the air conditioning. We ordered a shrimp appetizer at the bar which was expensive and the shrimp were bad. The restaurant was closed for an employee holiday gathering which was fine given our shrimp experience. The staff was attentive when asked questions or for towels.

Greetings! Thank you so much for choosing us for your stay. We are so sorry you were not pleased with the location of your room. We assigned one of our most modern rooms. On your next visit, please don't hesitate to ask for the room location you would prefer. After Hurricane Maria, Rincón lost most of its coast. We do have access to the beach to the side of our property. We provide beach towels, umbrellas and chairs free of charge for your guests. It was a pleasure having you with us and we look forward to receiving you again in the future!

Stayed here for 3 nights with family and had a pleasant experience. The hotel is located right on a private beach, the rooms are spacious with fresh towels provided daily and both the housekeeping and front desk staff are lovely. Only complaint about the room was that the bathroom had some mildew and rust on the towel rack.
We ate at the hotel’s restaurant twice, as the ambiance was nice. The first night we enjoyed our food and service was good however the second night we ate there, our dining experience was greatly diminished. The food and service were both mediocre. The restaurant was busy that night but seemed understaffed as wait times were high and it took 40 minutes for us just to reach the waiter to ask for the bill.
Also, I was extremely disappointed with my meal that night. I had ordered a club sandwich (for $12) and received a sandwich with just bread, lettuce, tomatoes and mayonnaise. This was shocking because I did not ask for a vegetarian version and a club sandwich is known everywhere to have meat as it is traditionally: lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, chicken and/or ham and bacon. I’ve gotten this sandwich in many restaurants around the world, have never received it without meat and have never been this disappointed with it.
Overall, the hotel was very nice but the restaurant could use improvement.

I’ve never been here before but according to relatives who have been prior, they remodeled after Maria and made it really inviting to vacationers and locals. Food options are plentiful and the staff was very helpful. Rooms were big depending which side you got. Try to go for beach view rooms if you want the newer rooms they offer. Bathroom could’ve been done better as far as the placement of the sink and shower (the edge of the sink is literally going into the shower and the shower is only partially covered by glass and allows for water to puddle on the bathroom floor). The beach is small and rocky in the shallows, but the fact that it’s not crowded or busy at all makes up for it.

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Cofresi! We had a beautiful 1st floor ocean view room and 2nd floor pool room with ocean view . The staff was wonderful. Enjoyed our meals and great drinks throughout our 6 day stay . Very reasonable prices for cocktails and meals . Housekeeping left fresh towels and toiletries each day and very attentive to our requests. Beach was small but so beautiful! Especially enjoyed the sunset celebration countdown each evening . This was exactly what our family needed !

Villa Cofresi is a wonderful gem of Rincón and Puerto Rico! The staff is phenomenal and the atmosphere is welcoming, fun, and beautiful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with awesome beds and the sound of the ocean. Everything is clean and the amenities are above and beyond. The location is perfect to get a taste of the local culture and 5 star food. We had to move our wedding from Guanica due to the earthquakes two weeks before our wedding and Villa Cofresi came highly recommended from every Puerto Rican we spoke to. We are so happy that we chose it! They were wonderful and really made our special day the best we could ever wish for. All of our guests were so happy some of them have already booked future stays and are bringing other friends and family to this wonderful place. The bar is great and they have live music most nights at reasonable hours. The ocean front is beautiful! We read a lot of reviews that said they don't have a beach which is just not true! They have a perfect intimate beach area and a garden with sand. They provide free rentals of beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas! The water has a sandbar about 15 yard out that is around 4 ft deep to swim to and hang out in the ocean with your friends/family. They have a small pool which our guests used for laps in the mornings. They are close to scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, parasailing, kayaking, wave running, shopping, dining, everything! This is a perfect place to go with family and a group of friends that you want to be able to socialize with easily but also want the freedom to explore the beautiful Rincón!

We have been to Rincon 5 or 6 times w family and friends. Each time we visited Villa Cofresi for group dinners, sunsets and good times. We have always had great food, great service, and a great vibe.
This year my wife and I came to Rincon early as the self-proclaimed “advance team” so we could actually stay at Villa Cofressi a few days before checking into the house we regularly stay. We arrived Wednesday and are checking out today - Saturday.
Villa Cofresi has been fantastic. There is a mix of couples, friends, families, retirees and people just enjoying a beach environment. Game room for kids. Restaurant, bar and patio near pool and lobby. Quiet spaces away from the action. Bridge groups. Wedding parties. Music at the bar/patio area. Pool. Beach. Beach towels. Beach lounge chairs. They have thought of everything.
Be very very careful or you will find yourself in the middle of a Karoke group singing in Spanish or English.
We are checking out in a few hours. It has been very relaxing and fun. A good get away from the cold and snow at home.
It would be completely unfair to close without complimenting the staff at all levels. They are a team and are very service oriented, and most have welcoming smiles. I do not work for Villa Cofresi. I am not related to, or do I know anyone from Villa Cofresi. I do not make money off of Villa Cofresi. I am just a Very satisfied customer.

I read some of the reviews and decided to give Villa Cofresi a try and I am glad I did. We had an absolutely wonderful vacation here, and it is largely due to the service of the employees at this resort. Service was excellent from the front desk as well as the bartenders and waitresses in the bar and restaurant. My initial experience was not great, the room we were given was not very nice, right near a staircase with a window facing the pool and a walkway that every uses so we would not have been able to keep the blinds open. We went to the front desk and they quickly moved us to another location that was perfect. Quiet area but a beautiful view and short walk to a balcony facing the ocean. A/C worked very well and the room was clean with a small refrigerator. We didnt use the TV much but it has only local stations.
The most impressive feature of this resort is the view of the ocean from the bar/restaurant and pool areas. There is seating along the railing directly over the beach. Sunsets are spectacular. In spite of the heat (July), we felt comfortable sitting in the bar area because of the breeze from the ocean. There is direct access to the beach and many people were swimming in the ocean. There are no chairs or umbrellas on the beach, you would need to bring your own.
The pool is very nice although it is smaller than it seems in the pictures. There were alot of people there so we didnt spend much time in the pool area but it was nice and clean.
The resort is located within walking distance of other restaurants and an area of food trucks and stalls with local foods. The food at the restaurant in the resort was excellent and also very reasonable. We drove to Aguadilla and Aguada as well as Crashboat beach. All are within a reasonable drive although the roads are a bit of a challenge.
Overall, an amazing experience, everyone on the staff was friendly and attentive. We will definitely plan to visit again. One suggestion when you are booking, look at the hotels website as well as other external sites. There were more room types available by booking directly with the hotel.
