There are many reasons to stay at Awatuna Homestead. It is located near Hokitika an absolutely delightfully history packed town which was recently put on the map by a now bestseller. The food at Awatuna was delicious and the chef delightful. It is very near a beautiful sea shore. But the reason we loved staying at Awatuna the most was...

Host Elana, greeted us at this special B&B place and settled us in for a 2 night stay. It happened we had some wet weather and our host fired up the open fireplace and we were happy reading and relaxing for half a day enjoying the peace and quiet as Elana brought us beaut nibbles and drinks as it rained,...

The winding entrance to this property ended in an extremely quaint homestead. We were a party of four and our bedrooms on the first floor were beautifully furnished and the beds were comfortable. The shared bathroom could not be faulted. The only draw back was the access by a set of steep stairs and the freight train that thunders by...

I thought we had already experienced some of the best accommodation in New Zealand until we stayed a Awatuna Homestead. This was simply the best place we stayed with every kind of facility you could wish for. Set in very tranquil grounds away from the main road we had afternoon tea when we arrived. The hostess then offered to provide diner...

We had a great stay in Awatuna on 12 Feb. The hostess Trixi was great and made ourselves felt home the very minute we arrived. We had a great dinner there. We (2 couples) had rooms on the ground floor and the rooms were reasonable sized and clean. We loved the gardens and at the suggestion of Trixi, we walked...

After 3 weeks touring NZ with the warmest and friendly places we stayed in , this was the last and worst. The welcome was not exactly warm from Trixi, she recommended a restaurant for dinner 12kms away which was closed when we arrived in the eve, to which her response next day was ' yes it sometimes is' !!!It was...

On our way to the Franz Josef glacier Nat'l park, we stayed here overnight., just north of the town of Hokitika. Our room was clean and comfortable. The kids (ours) were upstairs, with a shared bath. Our room had its own private bath with a large whirlpool tub as well. Nearby we explored the beautiful Hokitika gorge, with a suspension...

Tasteful comfortable rooms. Attention to details such a touch lamp of on/off, very comfortable beds....and what make it fantastic is the breakfast. Not necessarily exceptional food, but the hosts giving you some sense of local heritage.

A great B&B begins and ends with great hosts -- Pauline and Hemi are just that!! We thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the Maori culture from Hemi, who brings it to life and gives it depth from a personal perspective. Pauline is warm and welcoming. Our room and bath were very spacious, comfortable, spa-like and restful. Breakfast was delicious. This...

Hemi and Pauline make you feel right at home in this accommodation. Hemi is a font of good knowledge from places to visit in the area (we followed all his recommendations) to antique cars, of which he has several, to where he is going to build his next house. Our room and Pauline's breakfast were very nice. Hokitika, nearby, has...
