Detailed Reviews
We had a great room on the ground floor and when we opened the bedroom or sitting room floor-length sliding glass doors, you walked onto a small patio with a table and two chairs on each side. We watched the sea and sunrise whilst enjoying our bacon, eggs and toast.
We walked to the seaside and walked along the beach, enjoying the sight of the waves lapping at our feet. An added bonus was the fact that you could walk to the beautiful beautiful "Sundial of Human Involvement" and stand on the month and observe the shadow cast across the time of day. It is called the Analemmatic Sundial and is made like a mosaic. We often saw people swimming and surfing in the nearby areas.
There was a restaurant downstairs where you could order meals, as well as a gym and other facilities. Free WiFi was available only in the reception and common areas. Parking was onsite and during vacation time it may be difficult to get a parking space inside. However, there is plenty of parking space outside as well.
Our room had a full kitchen (we cooked most of our meals in-house) and a great bathroom, a washing machine and dryer and everything you needed at your fingertips. A great way to spend the New Year.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view of the ocean. I like the leisured walk to the beach.

Stayed in 1BR self contained apartment with everything you need. It can fit 3 adults and 1 child max. Unfortunately the indoor pool was closed but both outdoor pool and spa were very cold (was said to be heated!)
It's promixity to the beach means cycling and walking/jogging on the path was much sought after location. Gym, table tennis and tennis court worked out for the fitness fanatics, while arcade games room comes in handy for young and old alike!
Plenty of eateries in Torquay, so didn't affect our stay with the cafe closed. Staff are helpful and friendly, have no problem recommending this place for a night or few more days to enjoy.

We were warmly welcomed upon check in at reception and also Happy Anniversary wishes!
When we entered our apartment we were absolutely overwhelmed with what we were presented with.
From the beautiful flowers and the personal message to the delicious harvest table and it don’t stop there with another surprise when we opened the fridge to see we were also provided with all of the ingredients for a delicious cooked breakfast.
It was really pleasing to see that the major resort works and maintenance are well underway in addition to the elevated cleanliness throughout the resort evident and our apartment was faultless!
We enjoyed leisurely walks along the beach directly across the road from the resort.
Spoilt for choice with many restaurants and cafes open and social distancing measures in place.
Again we cannot thank you and your team enough for making us feel very, very special during our stay which was relaxing and a truly memorable stay for our anniversary.
We cannot wait to return in the near future!

We were driving the Great Ocean Road and stayed overnight in Torquay, The Wyndham seemed one of the better places in town so we reserved a beach view suite for ourselves and 10 year old daughter. The resort is a time share and looks hugely popular with big families. There is a small modest snack bar with about 10 tables that provides basic lunch and dinner items but no breakfast is served at the resort. It's a 15+ minute walk to the closest breakfast spot; others in Torquay were much farther. We could have driven but weren't sure we could find parking. Like other places in Australia, you get a tea kettle and instant coffee packets. The room was spacious but dumpy - the sofa bed was just awful - old, squeaky, thin disgusting mattress. We could hear the neighbor next door cough every few minutes. Then at 10:00pm we got a knock on our door - it was the receptionist who needed to come into our room to adjust our thermostat because the man next door evidently shared the same thermostat. I've NEVER heard anything so ridiculous. The washer and dryer were welcome because we'd been traveling but we started the dryer when we went to dinner and it was still running when we got home 2+ hours later. The location is not easily accessible to the main food and shopping area of Torquay, it's on the outskirts but across from a nice beach.

December can be hot or it can be cold on the coast but luckily we had a mixture so a mix of beach walks, sunning on the sand and wading was had. With a balcony view to the beach and sea a pleasant cocktail with a book was enjoyed. This resort is situated just a pleasant walk away from the restaurants and cafes of Torquay. You can choose a stroll along the coastal road or the jogging path or even along the beach to get to your eatery of choice. We availed ourselves of the yummy meat pies from the bakery. IGA is nicely stocked with everything you want to cook or heat up in the suite with the combined oven, grill and microwave or cook top. Parking is convenient underneath. A huge outdoor pool will see you lazing away many a day. The only thing to be aware is finding your way around the resort if you are a first timer as the map they give you on check-in is very confusing, but it doesn't take long to familiarise yourself with the layout. Unfortunately due to Covid the Cafe was closed so we missed out on it. Overall we enjoyed the resort as it felt like we were staying in a 5 star hotel. Will definitely be back!

We are repeat visitors to this resort , which is located right across the road from the beach . Easy walk to shops and cafes as well as many walking tracks also suitable for bikes.
We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which had a king size bed and a tv ,one bathroom with shower over bath , laundry in bathroom and then a good sized kitchen with fridge , oven /microwave and utensils as required. Dining table a good size , then a lounge suite with a tv.
A split system aircon in the lounge area.
We had two sliding doors to the outside however these were not security doors so they have to be closed at night.
Resort pool is lovely with lots of safe spots for children . Onsite bar offers some light snacks / meals for purchase .
Small gym and lap pool also on site.
A great place to stay and can be a base for day trips to other locations such as Lorne and Apollo Bay etc

We arrived mid week without a booking so are happy we were able to secure a room for a couple of nights when Torquay was very busy. (I am guessing Victorians were happy to not be locked down any more and didn't care if it was holidays or not!)
Our room (147 on the ground floor) overlooked the ocean however as has been noted in previous reviews these rooms are no more than 50 metres from the Esplanade and were very noisy until late into the night and then again early as the walkers made their way to the town for their morning coffee.
No breakfast available so you have to leave the hotel for brekky. Not a bad thing as Torquay has some great spots.
Good secure parking included. WiFi did not work, albeit we did receive a notice saying someone would be entering our room over our stay as part of a Wifi upgrade).
May have been a "resort" prior to Covid but could not really make that claim now.

Response from Cameron Jeffery, General Manager at Wyndham Torquay
Responded 8 Mar 2021
Thank you Steve for your review and coming across from Adelaide. Great to read that we could look after you, we have been very busy of late, and loved that we were able to have a room available for your short stay. Yes, our wifi has now been upgraded which will also provide guests with a more efficient movie system and our new virtual assistant Holly (think of her as our version of Siri) is now at guests disposal 24 hours a day. She can't cook breakfast though, but our new chef coming in the coming weeks will be bringing breakfast back to life. We hope to welcome you back soon, and hopefully you will have a better experience. Regards, Cameron General Manager

Our 3rd of 3 different lodgings along the Great Ocean Road and the biggest disappointment. Check in was fast and efficient, but once we got to our room, #142, we dragged our stuff out of the room, got a full refund and checked out.
The walk from the elevator from the underground garage, along stained carpets, and marred walls in the hallway, was bad enough for a $300.00 a night room but
in the room, the overwhelming smell of some sour, sweet industrial air spray, to cover what was obviously the smell of mildew and then the little parade of ants walking along the baseboard, had us back to the front desk for a full refund. Staff offered to send housekeeping, but nothing they could have done would have remedied either of those issues.
We lost that 3rd night, so went back to our home in Melbourne. Surely the name 'Wyndham' can do better.

Had a great stay. Excellent location and facilities. Our room overlooked the creek with ocean views from the balcony and was very quiet considering we stayed in the busiest week of the year. The cafe is handy and staff very friendly. My only recommendation would be for regular cleaning of the glass doors at the stairwells. Loved the indoor lap pool and outside pool area.

Booked for 2 nights, first the keys did not work waited 10 mins for new keys. Then entered there was a strange smell, but the view was amazing. Then on the bed head there was organic matter, and in the lounge on the chairs there appeared to be more organic matter. The staff were good, however could not stay it was so dirty, we did take photos but you dont need to see them, full refund given.

Hi - sorry I just noticed your question. These prices seem to be very high. We did not pay anything like that but unfortunately I cannot remember who I booked it through!
It was certainly under £100 per night and worth every penny. Phone them direct and they will tell you why it is so expensive - I would also guess Easter. Lovely place to visit too.
The rates are much better booked on line but I got a great deal when I had visitors from overseas and we made a quick decision we would head down to Torquay the next day still got good rates 👍
Sorry I didn't reply earlier. We are busy planning our trip to South America. You can get a train to Geelong then a bus to Torquay . There are tours from Melbourne and can be arranged from Torquay or Geelong . The weather in September is Spring 10-25 degrees. Some rain. Great surf at Torquay and Bells beach. Regards Lyn
I usually book via Wyndham six months in advance as there are more selection on offer. But for 2 nights 3 moths is fine as there are limited rooms available. I have been going there every year and it has been a pleasant stay.
