We stayed in the motel which is a set of rooms tacked onto the Torquay Hotel which in turn is just off the main road coming into town from the west. The rooms are all the same the receptionist told me, and that means a double bed, a single bed, and a fridge, jug and toaster but nothing else. You can’t cook here and while the dining room offered a range of quality meals, it doesn’t offer breakfast either. There are plenty of cafes nearby, the in-room guide says. And indeed there were, so that’s where we went. Comfy bed, but all rather basic for quite a lot of money. Kept awake by a loud party with a thumping bass: not the hotel’s fault but it is that kind of area.

Had a chicken parmigiana for dinner and like other reviewers I was pleasantly surprised at how quick it came to the table. I was however not unhappy with the meal, it was quite eatable and the salad was very good. The meal was relatively cost friendly.

Where I do have an issue is with the ridiculously loud music that came from the disco held outdoors and reverberating inside the unit we were staying. When a comment was made about the noise we were told the next night (Saturday) the disco was inside. And true enough it was and the noise was less irritating. I fail to understand why you have an outdoor disco next to motel units very close nearby. Makes no sense.

I'd come back to the hotel for a meal as it was timely and good value.

But I will not come to stay overnight at the hotel particularly on Friday/Saturday nights as there is no concern for those who paid to sleep overnight. We had early morning commitments so it was made even worse. The noise (aka music with the same bass riffs for every song) was so loud the walls vibrated and the only good thing about the noise was it stopped at 11.00 p.m. But it is not good enough. The unit we stayed in was clean but lacked some things you get in other motel accommodation such as a toaster. There were a couple of other things but I can't remember them now.

The hotel has a lot going for it with friendly staff and being neat and clean. But if you are having guests stay in the motel units consider cutting back on the music volume or soundproof/deaden the rooms. Really was very irritating.

Three of us had an enjoyable lunch at the Torquay Hotel. The service was very good and drinks were at a reasonable price is an interesting menu. The coffee and desserts were an enjoyable way to finish the meal. The hotel has been renovated and the dining area was comfortable and thankfully it was not noisy.

On a drive to the coast we decided to call in for lunch. The Hotel has been beautifully redecorated and they have done a great job. Although were we sat was very noisey due to a large family celebration, we asked to be moved into another room, this was no trouble. The food was very nice, large servings and all of us had a great lunch.
I would recommend this Hotel for lunch or dinner, very nice place for a get together. They have a play room for kids if you wish to sit in that part of the Bistro, but there are 2 seperate other rooms to sit away from that area if you wish

The atmosphere to the bistro is open, fresh & inviting. The staff were friendly and attentive.
The food was good, in total we had 6 meals, but for the price we all could of had more quantity on the plate. The pasta dish at $32 was delicious but needed more pasta to feel satisfied, as with the nasi-goreng. The seafood platter was nice, just wish they had some oysters included, but overall very tasty. Prices are on the higher.
The bar was great. Good selection of wines and cocktails. There is a children’s menu if you need it, prices were at $12.00. Will come back!

Jesse, our waiter, gave excellent service, suggested a steak special to share. He kept us informed as to how the steak was being cooked, and made you Anticipate a fine meal. This was the service one would expect at a 5 star restaurant, and not at a hotel restaurant. The steak he recommended was delicious and tender.

Good location on Bell Street, and close driving to the famous Bell's Beach. Very basic room which reminded me of travelling around Australia in the 1970s. It's a pub and a restaurant too. We had dinner and it was pretty ordinary to be honest. Service was also very ordinary, as if it were a chore to have us there as paying guests. Given its location and probably $ value, someone enterprising should take this over and renovate the whole place. There are plenty of cashed up boomers who would stay and spend money.

Firstly the service from staff was extremely friendly and quick..
Had a mixture of drinks and food and everything was good.
The only issue I have is that for a country pub it is on the expensive side .Considering that the mains vary from $38-$50 , I expect to pay those prices as a fancy Melbourne restaurant not at a pub .
Place has been redeveloped and it look great.

Well …. Travelled down from Melbs for a weekend away with hubby after a busy week of work.
Had dinner at the pub tonight spent $250 on food and drinks for 2 ….
Ordered entrees x 6 … flavours were good but seriously I don’t think they had any salt in the kitchen!!! It was bland … No seasoning on any of the food , the calamari had absolutely no salt or any seasoning , the lamb ribs no seasoning , it was the worst dish we had , the white anchovies no seasoning , the tuna was bland, needed a biscuit or a cracker or a crisp to go with it, the bruschetta was in need of seasoning!!! I asked the staff for salt and pepper but none came I wish I bought my own … seriously guys check the seasoning on your food as it goes out !
I’m a chef from Melbs just did 60 hrs this week looking for a weekend off from cooking, not happy with the results….

Sent soft drinks back as they where flat and had a very strong syrup taste. Ordered a Parma with veg, Parma lacked taste and the "veg" was 5 pieces of broccoli and 1 been. Staff helpful but won't hurry back.

Can I rent bicycles for cycling around the area

You can’t hire bikes at the motel, however you can rent most leisure craft in the town. Might be worth doing and internet search, but I’d expect you could find bike rental within walking distance of the motel.
