We stopped in Bicheno for the night so we could watch the Devils in the dark, which was very interesting and worth doing. We were the only group in our section so we had the whole place to ourselves. It was great, clean, neat and had everything we needed. The Wifi was good to. Some things are looking a bit...

Stayed in the shack in an ensuite room which was quite comfortable. The little heater worked well to heat the room. Lots of hot water and good water pressure. Room clean and modern looking. Right in the centre of town. Big downside is the noise. There is no sound proofing. People coming and going, doors closing, in and out of...

In plus: Nice service, generally clean and safe, free wifi and parking place In minus Very very old underinvested, but maybe there is no reason as other accommodation options are more expensive. About Bicheno itself - pinguin tourgise is very nice but everything other is over priced.

Wow. Such praise for a $30 bed. So happy we could assist with "nice service, clean and safe, free wi-fi and parking place". Your forgot the comfortable bed, clean linen and hot shower plus use of all other facilities. The bunkhouse building (cheapest option available) is due for renovation next winter. Perhaps you would like to come and pitch in...

I had rented a car and was driving up the coast without any solid plans for accommodation. I was able to call the facility and request a bed for the night in the late afternoon. When arrived at about 8:30pm and went to go find my bed, the room was already fully occupied. I had to explain the situation to...

I stayed in a 8 bed dorm, it was nice and private, the kitchen was hygienic and the bathroom was really clean. Staff are kind with cuuuuuute dogs ! The hostel is close to the town and beach, so it's perfect to stay all day here. I went surfing in the morning, then went to diamond island when the tide...

I came with no reservations and the staff was friendly and helpful. I had a private room, which was very clean and comfortable. There was a huge living room with TV. The kitchen was large and well equipped. Private parking lot.

Stayed in the double room with shared bathroom. Spotlessly clean bedroom and bathroom with clean towels provided. Double bed was comfy and had flat screen TV. Kitchen area was perfect with lists of utensils. Great value and great location for traveling up the east coast. Bicheno has a choice of about 5 places to eat all similar price but also...

Thin walls, smallish kitchen with one fridge in the section of the hostel I stayed in to be shared by 4 rooms. Bathroom was clean but only one toilet in that part of the hostel. The showers were good with plenty of hot water and good pressure. I think suitable for budget travellers as not much else around for the...

Thanks for the review. You are correct, we are "just a hostel" and the $74 rate reflects this. You are also right when you say "suitable for budget travellers". We do not proclaim to be anything else. One of the bedrooms in this house has its own toilet so one toilet services 3 private rooms, which is well above what...

We stayed in an ensuite double room, just around the corner from the main hostel. We were greeted by the manager and her two dogs who were very welcoming and allowed us to check in a couple of hours early. Free wifi is available and a communal kitchen/living area with sofas and tv. Clean, comfortable but lacking inn character.

Thank you for the positive review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and our clean and comfortable facilities. If our rooms are ready & someone is available to check you in early, we have no problem doing so. It is nice that it was appreciated. The Shack where you stayed has only been open a short time (you probably...
