This is my first time stayed at the Courtyard by Marriot North Ryde for a short staycation.
Location and transportation
The Courtyard North Ryde is located in Sydney’s North Shore, right opposite Macquarie Park Metro station. From there, once can easily reach a number of major business and shopping hub like Macquarie Centre (one stop), Chatswood (3 stops), North Sydney and Sydney CBD. Therefore, even for first time tourists, the hotel is a great base to explore Sydney.
Room and facilities
The Courtyard is a median size hotel, featuring a restaurant and a good size gym. I was assigned to room 618. What I like the room is its functionality and practicality. Unlike many other modern hotels which have a study desk in the room, the decent sized rooms in the Courtyard have a multipurpose round table instead. It can be used a work desk, or be used as dinner table. The long bench around the wall can also be used a work areas, to spread work files. Despite its location, i.e. right next to a major road, I could not hear any traffic noise, thanks to the excellent insulation. The ensuite features a bath which is very welcoming.
Services
Staff are very professional and efficient. Each room provides two reusable drinking bottles for unlimited refill of still and sparkling water at the bar. That’s the X factor.
On conclusion, whether for leisure or business, it is an excellent choice to stay at Courtyard by Marriot in North Ryde.

The reception staff were incredibly helpful and polite. The property was excellent and in excellent condition. The room has air-con that you can adjust to your liking. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The bistro makes amazing coffee and there is also a room-service option for $6.50 fee.
There is parking on site that is $15 a day and can be organized. Across the road is Maccas and KFC plus some other shops. The hotel is quiet, clean and very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent and so much choice.
Negatives: no bottled water anywhere on site. The bistro doesn't sell it and no vending machines either.

The hotel is in a good location for those of us that work for companies located in the business park. The rooms are ok although a bit dated. What really annoys me about this place is the consistently poor staff in the bar and restaurant. Breakfast is an exercise in being ignored by the wait staff and sitting at tables strewn with debris. Don’t even bother ordering a barista coffee because it will not arrive. The breakfast buffet is mediocre with cold eggs and cold porridge. However it is impossible to attract the attention of wait staff to order a la carte. Bar service in the evening is just as bad. You stand at the bar until someone can be bothered to serve you and then I discovered this time around that you must check your bill because we were significantly overcharged and had to complain to get a refund. I have stayed at this hotel many times now and the service is consistently bad in the restaurant. Strangely, the reception staff are very efficient and polite.

Thanks for your feedback, should you stay again please ask for James. What you experienced does not reflect what we are striving for. I'd love the opportunity to thank you for your business and feed back in some way. If that's alacarte eggs or a complimentary upgrade please let me know.

I arrived at the hotel restaurant at 9.02pm and asked if I could order a snack only to be told that the kitchen closed at 9pm, 2 minutes before. I then asked if there was a cookie I could have as there are no vending machines in this hotel and I was quite hungry, again I was told no the kitchen is closed.
I then asked to buy a bottle of water and was told there was none but that I would find a glass in my room and water in the bathroom.
The following morning I complained at check out and was told that my complaint would be passed on to the GM but have not had a call back.
I was booked to stay the following week but asked the clerk to cancel my booking and I booked elsewhere. I called the hotel the day before the cancelled booking date and found the booking had not be cancelled are directed.
Poor service is intolerable and will not stay in a Courtyard by Marriott again.

Thanks for your call, I can empathize with the situation being a seasoned traveler myself. Our kitchen does operate till 9pm only and it sounds like with a little creativity my team could have made your stay more welcoming. While there is no bottled water as we are trying to reduce our plastic foot print we have unlimited refills of sparkling, cold and ambient temperature water and have a refillable water bottles available for sale at cost if you don’t have your own, this at least could have been conveyed. We also stock Pellegrino. While my team missed the mark on this occasion this experience does not reflect my service values and my team will likewise be disappointed to see this feedback. If I can be of assistance in any way please to make a future stay more comfortable please let me know how I can thank you for your business and valuable feedback for my growing and learning team. Sincerely, James. Dir Operations

3 hour wait for soup and fruit platter that never arrived.
First time staying here and tired from working all day. Ordered dinner from the inroom dining menu at 5:15pm via internal phone intercom.
Young girl at reception said she would pass our order onto the kitchen when they opened at 5:30pm.
Called the same girl three seperate occasions to get an update of how long our meal would be. Each time she said the same thing…we’re sorry the kitchen is busy and we will have it to you shortly……
Well on my final call I had no choice as it was nearing 8:30pm, but to cancel my order.
With the inconvenience of sourcing out takeaway from outside the hotel. We went down to the kitchen and asked what happened to our order.
They advised us our order was placed at 6:30pm by reception and it was never prepared. We have never had to cancel room service nor have we been lied to so many times.
Paid for parking, but only to park outside hotel as parking was full and boom gates were open to the public.
Very disappointing and sorry we will never be staying here ever angsin. Highly recommend to others the same…DO NOT STAY HERE!

Thankyou for sharing we met at the desk when you were already rightly frustrated. As you mentioned my team took your order a touch prior to the kitchen being opened. This caused the order to be lost and my guess is some of my team when you asked assumed incorrectly the food was on the way. Your experience was definitely below my expectation of the team at the hotel but not a reflection of the hotels normal standards. If you should change your mind and need to visit the area again I would hope for the opportunity to thank you for your business in some way, if that's some wine with dinner or a complimentary upgrade please let me know. I share all feedback with the team and yours is a good lesson on not making an assumption. Thanks Again, James. Director of Operations.

Really disappointed with our stay. We wanted to order some toast as our daughter was a bit car sick. Went to reception and requested just a piece of toast and was happy to pay. They said they would bring it up and we waited over an hour for toast and nothing came. We ended up going to Maccas across the road.
Our bathroom was covered in mould and the Buffett breakfasts was not worth the money unfortunately! Food was cold, bacon was like rubber and often had to wait for things to be refilled.
They also charged us for parking which we didn’t use and couldn’t get a refund on.
Sadly we won’t be back.
We sent feedback about the mould and not getting our toast and the reply was “oh it seems like they forgot” that reply just isn’t good enough.

This hotel has serious problems with both their automated billing systems and with their management. We had an issue with them that we thought was resolved upon checkout by the duty manager. However, they later (two weeks after checkout) charged my credit card AGAIN and have since refused to remove the charge.
I am Marriott Silver Elite and this is one property I would highly recommend that other Marriott Elites stay far away from.
And, speaking of far away, the property is far away from almost everything in Sydney. It is a taxi or train to get anywhere. So even without the unresolved billing issues, I cannot recommend this hotel.

We really enjoyed our overnight stay at the Courtyard Marriott to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Bryce, the host at the hotel front desk, made our night even more memorable by upgrading us to one of their suites and sending up a complimentary bottle of wine to congratulate us on our anniversary. It was so thoughtful of him and made our stay even more enjoyable. The room (a loft) was really clean and spacious. The bed was nice and soft, the pillows just right. The buffet breakfast the following day was really good - plenty of hot and cold food to choose from. Overall, this hotel is a great place to stay and you get value for your money.

Worst ever. We have no time to use Stay NSW voucher so I called twice today to make sure it is accepted at the restaurant in this place. Both people who took the call said yes. We then had dinner and they refused to take the voucher and even after I paid with credit card, the manager didn’t care to apologise for the mistakes their staff made.

Thanks again for your feedback, stay vouchers can be used for accomodation only. Perhaps the confusion was with the multiple types of vouchers. We accept both vouchers but cannot use stay vouchers for non accomodation invoices.

This review is for the restaurant and bar only. The evening didn’t start well when the bartender handed me a warm bottle of water (after being unsure if they actually sold water there). When I asked if I could have a cold bottle he said “no, the fridge broke a few days ago”. I ordered a pizza from the very limited menu and it was easily the worst pizza I’ve ever eaten. A number of people at my table commented on how bad it looked and, after trying it for themselves, agreed that McCains make a better frozen pizza than the one I paid $28 for. I don’t like leaving bad reviews but the food was terrible.

Courtyard Marriott North Ryde is not a quarantine hotel and we have had no cases at the hotel.
No this is not a quarantine hotel.
We have no executive lounge but provide breakfast for platinum members in The Bistro.
Hi there,
There is a train from the airport to most places in Sydney, this hotel is not the best place to stay if you want to be near Sydney Harbour or if catching a cruise ship, I would recommend staying in Darling Harbour or Sydney CBD.
