We were travelling with another couple and booked the 2 upstairs rooms which were spacious, comfortable and quiet. Our cars were parked in the garage and easily accessible. Our hostess, Helen was excellent and cooked a great breakfast for us each morning of our 3 day stay. The house is filled with very interesting art

A big thank you to Helen for her fabulous hospitality. Melville house is a lovely blend of period charm and all the mods cons you need. The bed was very comfortable, and the bacon and eggs just the way I like them. The little touches, like the heart shaped soaps and port were lovely. I look forward to my return!

Apart from the road noise the room was perfect - very spacious, very clean and excellent amenities. Helen was very friendly and a gracious host. We felt comfortable using the sitting room and the outdoor setting for morning tea was very pleasant.

Helen runs a classic BnB with rooms with diverse charms and a great home cooked breakfast in the morning with sunny outlook to garden and pool. There is a lot of history here and art deco furnishings and fittings. But my room was top class with all mod cons and so spacious - TV, WiFI, a writing desk, sofa and...

We found Melville House to be a wonderfully cosy home away from home, with many things that make it a delight to stay here. Probably the biggest selling point is the owner, Helen, a pocket dynamo with a wicked sense of humour and a pride in making sure everyone's stay is memorable. From the magnificent freshly cooked breakfast to start the...

Its a lovely largely art deco post-war building with a lot of character. And Helen who runs the place does too. Its close to town and altogether very warm and welcoming, Breakfast was great too. Wouldn't look anywhere else on the next trip.

I have stayed at a number of the Melville House properties particularly 254 Keen St and have always found both the accommodation and the service brilliant. Helen is the most accommodating owner I have met. For people travelling with pets the properties are very pet friendly and Helen has gone out of her way to ensure that the properties I...

The first thing that ran through my mind when I entered Melville House was my wife would adore this place. I wished she could have joined me to experience a taste of relaxation heaven. Future guests can see and feel the Melville old world comfort from the photos on the internet. But what they won't know until they get here...

This FABULOUS house is immaculate and you wont do any better than this B & B. The hospitality is second to none and so well worth it. Nothing was too much trouble for Helen, our lovely and friendly hostess. Having her long time companion, Jackie (dog) residing. It is also a Pet Friendly B & B, for those who don’t...
