Stayed here on an overnight trip and the staff were extremely friendly. Clean room which was large with a couch and small table and chairs. Also very clean.
Only negative was the noise created by others staying there. There was someone in the room that was directly above me that had there door open until nearly three am who continued to make excessive noise throughout. It wasn’t until I went out and asked them not so politely to be quiet that the noise stopped. This noise had to affect others staying there and I was surprised that the motel did not ask them to be quiet and respectful of others much earlier.

Good location just off the main street, with a short walk to all shops and restaurants and cafes and pubs and bus stops in town. I didn't hear any noise from Peden's pub next door, although there were a group of men outside at Friday 10pm drinking beers and making a bit of noise. I don't know what reception's hours were as they didn't post this anywhere, so I couldn't alert anyone.
The room itself was a bit dated, the TV didn't work at first so I had to ask reception to fix it. However the shower was nice and hot and strong, really good. The bed was comfortable too, and the kettle worked fine so I could make coffee.
Didn't get to use the pool as it was too cold, it was small but would've fit a small group of people standing up.
For $120 or so a night, it's probably about right but nothing special. I might give either the Cessnock Hotel or Peden's Hotel a go next time as they're cheaper.

Stayed one night and it served the purpose for a one night stay. The guy on reception wasn’t overly friendly. Room was tidy, clean sheets and comfortable pillows but the mattress definitely needs replacing. Bathroom clean, shower okay.
However bathroom door needs replacing. The bedroom floor felt very grimy under foot and on closer inspection I don’t think it has been washed properly for some time.
Curtains didn’t close properly either resulting in the outside security lighting shining through all the time. Don’t think I would stay there again.

I booked this accomodation recently and the noise level from the family that owns the Motor Inn was out of control - every single day. Their kids running up and down the outside rooms and never ending constant screaming from the children above my unit - every day. The owners do not see this a problem for their guests however it would be the last time I would visit or recommend this Motor Inn - no matter how cheap it was. If you are looking for a quiet stay : this is NOT the place for you.

Booked and paid in full for 3 rooms 6 people for March 2021, then 2 weeks later i have been told my booking is cancelled, yet i have not received my refund as quickly as they took it. Was told a wedding booked in for same dates yet restrictions have only just been lifted. Have to wonder how that works.

We phoned & booked direct with Cumberland Motor Inn as we were a party of 4 and our friends were also travelling with their children so we needed 2 family rooms and we wanted to make sure we could get the rooms. The booking experience was good and they sent through the confirmation. We arrived around 4.30pm on the day for both booking parties to be told we didn't have a booking despite our confirmation email but they had family that had another motel near by and we could get rooms there so we went to The Aussie Rest to be told they only had 1 family room available so we had to ring around to find somewhere for all of us to stay as we wanted to stay at the same place and one room wasn't enough. We ended up getting rooms at a hotel near by where we met another family who had exactly the same thing happen to them by the Cumberland Motor Inn. They obviously got busy and gave our room to someone else who wanted to pay more for it and then they forward the lost business to their family in the business as they know you have nowhere to go, seems like a bit of a scam as we booked during covid restrictions and some restrictions lifted by the time we stayed there. I would never book with them again.

We arrived an hour early i had asked if we could check in he said no, I was fine with that i stayed in my car for him to then knock on my car door 40 mins later saying i could come check in, I didn't hound him i was fine chilling in my car waiting. I arrived to my room which by the way stunk, i left my door open for a good 2 hours after because i was getting a migraine, it was not cleaning products i could smell it was dust, spray to make the room smell fresh or something. I didn't think to say something as we were leaving a few hours after to attend a wedding to then get back to the room still smelling absolutely horrid but to then sleep on that bed (I'm so glad we brought our own pillows that's for sure). I get its a motel and not a hotel I do but there is a line drawn when it comes to being clean and not okay.

No one was there to speak to when we checked out so I said to my partner we will leave a review because we were unhappy and i thought people should know.

So this morning I left a review and the hotel manager called me abusing me saying that i came early so they had to help me and blah blah blah that the room needed to air before we stay in it and he pretty much said he's blocking my review and I'm blocked or something..

Don't stay at this place.... go anywhere but here.

We stayed for one night at this motel. We had previously stayed there and it was good.

This time it was terrible. One towel in the room being accused that the staff had put some in the room.
Room was dated, curtains had holes which allowed light in.
Bed was rock hard the floor would have been softer and that also didn't look clean.
People our the front of their rooms smoking which the smell wafted into our room, not good for someone with asthma.

We left early the next day. I checked my bank account a couple days later and noticed money from the motel had come out. I rang and spoke to someone at the front desk who was incredibly rude and asked why he said " that the cleaners had gone in to clean and said the bed head was broken and same with wine glasses. This is absolute bull we didn't even touch the glasses.

It is a case of them against us with what happened but some sort of proof like photos from them would have been helpful but nothing.

I wouldn't recommend this motel to my worst enemy its old, dirty and not worth the money.

Oh they PC uht milk in the fridge and the fridge was turned off so who knows how long they had been sitting in their getting warm .

Worst motel in Cessnock.

Arrived for 3 night stay nice large room good bed .It was hot weather and the old air con barely worked and some of the lights did'nt work . We arranged a room change to upstairs air con worked ok So far so good.
However the room change placed us in the middle of a a large group of people who despite the smiles and head wobbling showed little respect for other guests.Children running around at 11.00pm Loud groups in adjacent rooms court yard area .
Lead to me requesting the motel manager to apply the motel rules .....to little effect Eventually to get some sleepI had to intervene personally .
When you pay for a bed it would be nice to be able to use it.
I would caution travellers that want to be able travel without being tired this is not the place to stay.
I get the feeling that the business of a group was more important than the overall experience for the rest of the guests

We found the motel room clean. spacious and quiet with a comfortable lounge to sit on rather than teetering on the end of the bed and there was a small table and 2 chairs to eat at. All in all a good experience and as we visit the Hunter Valley often will not hesitate to stay here again.
