We stayed for only one night but were delighted with the Penghana B&B. Steve and Karen welcomed us right away and gave a brief history. Where else can you go in Tasmania and find a host with ties to Iowa?! The room was very comfortable, including the bed. And very quiet. The bath towels were fabulous! Free in room wifi....

Yes the Western Wilderness of Tasmania is probably the last place you would expect to find someone who lived for a year just 30 minutes from your own hometown in the middle of Iowa! I always enjoy going down memory lane back to 1972 and fondly remembering my exchange student year in Chariton Iowa, which I continue to credit as...

An absolutely wonderful establishment to spend a couple of nights in. Reward yourself with delightful surroundings and a breakfast to die for. So much trouble gone to by Karen and Steve that makes this stay worthwhile. Also the cost of the bed and breakfast is very reasonable.

The hosts, Karen and Steve are perfect in the role of welcoming guests to their home. Everything about our too short stay was tops. The House is charming with history oozing out of every corner, the beds were comfortable and conducive to sleep. Karen gave us a guided tour around this lovely property which is furnished very tastefully and in...

Thank you so much for your glowing comments about your stay at Penghana B & B and your time in the Western Wilderness. Yes the Wilderness Railway is certainly a great experience - it isn't just a train ride - even for those who aren't train enthusiasts. We certainly don't mind extending our hospitality to driving our guests to/from the...

The location is superb: the mansion built for the general manager of the mining and railway company in the late 19th century. Our room was palatial, bed excellent. Breakfast offered a wide choice. It was around a huge table with other guests. Our hosts booked an evening meal for us at a nearly restaurant, and took us to and from...

Thank you for taking the time to review Penghana B & B and your positive comments. We certainly don't mind chauffering our guests to/from dinner or the Wilderness Railway - we feel if we can take away the chore of finding a parking space or giving our guests the opportunity to have a drink with dinner and not worry about...

Fascinating house in one of the best locations in town with a commanding view over Queenstown. Lots of rooms that guests can go in. Excellent breakfast and Karen and Steve were very friendly, telling us about local history, things to do and Steve very kindly drove us to the bus at the last minute as we'd got the time wrong...

This B&B brings the history of Queenstown alive. The hosts are fabulous and more than willing to share the history of the house and sights to see. The breakfast is a 10 out of 10 too. Special preserves, made to order eggs, and tea and coffee service from vintage silver pots. Like living the royal life of the early 1900's...

Queenstown is not what you might expect, green hills have overtaken barren mine tailings. We really loved Penghana - t was not only a beautiful place to stay the hospitality was second to none. Well into our ride around Tassie on motorbikes we were very pleasantly surprised to find a place where the bike could be parked under cover and...

Stayed overnight and the hosts Karen and Steve went beyond expectations to accommodate us. They directed us towards local eateries and antique shops. The house was like a museum and breakfast was served in silver service. You felt like you Had time travelled back to 1800's.

Hosts Steve and Karen greet you through the historic front door and introduce the magnificent building and its connection to the history of Queenstown. Personally I was agog at the building!
