Theft: I booked 2 rooms here to celebrate as part of a honeymoon gift for family. The day before we were leaving, the room of the newlyweds had their belongings rifled through, and all cash was taken from their wallets (which was buried deep within multiple bags). The staff (Edgar and Alejandro) told me they would conduct an investigation, but with no time frame and kept reciting this was procedure. I was told the general manager was on vacation, and their supervisor was not working that night. The next day I went to the front desk and asked for the supervisor (also named Edgar), who basically told me that we should have used the room safe and that we would have to go file a police report, the resort cannot assist. They stole from their guests, and made the guests feel as though it was their fault for not assuming the staff would go through all of their belongings. Room: Upon checking into my room I noticed there was no TV remotem. I tried to call the front desk, room service, any every number listed, but nobody ever answered. The next day after housekeeping had stopped by, they turned the TV with the sound on a high level, but with no remote to turn this off. The room itself is antiquated and does not feel clean. Seems to be an older resort that was renovated on a low budget. Food: The fruit was okay, however most other food was on par with cheap fast food or a low quality buffet. I also quickly found out that this is not a true “all inclusive resort”. Only a selection of drinks are included while the rest are an up-charge, so keep this in mind if you have stayed at other actual all inclusive resorts. Your fridge will be “stocked” with a soda, bottle of water, and a mini can of beer. Pool/Beach: Fantastic beach, and pool was very nice as well. This was the only part of the resort that was actually as described. Misc.: There is a store at the front, that has extremely over priced items and are charged in USD. If you forget sunscreen, expect to pay a hefty price for a tiny bottle. Final thoughts: This was my first time in the Samana region, so I chose a resort that I thought would be a safe place to bring my family. I chose Wyndham as it was a brand I recognized, but our privacy was violated, belongings were stolen, and there was zero assistance from management. It’s a very “what do you want me to do” type attitude, rather than a “we are so sorry, let us make this right” that you would expect. Please pay a little more and go to any other resort or even a hotel with paid food/drink, don’t make the same mistake.…
The only thing this place has going for it is the location/scenery. It has a beautiful beach and really relaxing pool area with nice bungalows you can lounge in at no extra cost. The food was atrocious for the most part. I could barely eat most of the buffet meals because of how awful they are. It was a struggle to even get a soda from the server most times as well (poor service). The only half decent meals were during the evening at the restaurants with a fixed menu. The most embarrassing part of the whole trip was the chicken sandwich I received from room service (see picture). I was at a loss for words and couldn’t help but laugh. I had a bungalow room with a pool, which was dirty or flooded for most of the trip. It was a nice feature, but I don’t think anyone is actually able to use it bc of how cold/dirty it constantly is. The television never worked. I asked the front desk at least twice to have it fixed, but nothing was ever done to correct the situation. I did go to the spa for a massage as well and my girlfriend received a manicure. The massage was actually good, although much shorter than advertised and the power went out during the massage. In fact, the power seemed to go entirely off at least once a day during our 5 day stay here. I was actually excited to go home by the time I left. The White Castle burgers I had after my drive home from the airport was the better than anything I had at the resort. This place is 2, maybe 3 stars at the absolute best. How anyone can think this is a 5 star resort is beyond me.…
Second time in this hotel and it was incredible again! Beautiful beach, pretty friendly staff and Ludmilla, Luiz, Janko, Nicole, Angel, mary, chocolate, Wagner, Hendry, jeffrey from the animation team are the best!! It was so much fun
I am not a surfer, but the waves in the ocean were great and fun!! The beach is sublime. The sand is soft and This place is quite enjoyable. I went for my class reunion and we had a BLAST!! Lots of stories and anecdotes to tell. We drank no matter what it was, however, I do have to bring to the attention that service in the bars area is slow and lack of personnel. The hotel need to have at least 2 staff members serving drinks and 1 doing the cleaning and picking up. Some of the memorable staff who I connected were: Marisela, Wilki, Darlinsi, Rosa and some others, they were very amicable and efficient. The food at Mar y Fuego restaurant is superb. Delicious. The rest could be improve and have more varieties. The rooms were nice, comfy beds, bedding and pillows. Clean. Overall I would definitely recommend to everyone.…
It was my first time in Samana and I really enjoyed , everything was good from A to Z Checking process super fast and friendly. Room clean and excellent view. Food was excellent in all places Drink was super good. Staff super friendly .
If you’re looking for a serene place to relax, this is a great place for it. Compared to other all-inclusive resorts, this one is on the smaller side. It has all the basics covered - spacious clean rooms, well-maintained grounds and pool. The beach is wonderful, clean golden sand absent of weeds or rocks. Being adults only, the resort is quiet. The food in the buffet and a la carte restaurants is average - neither terrible nor great. Service in the a la carte restaurants was very good, however the La Marche buffet is understaffed. It’s difficult to get coffee in the mornings and food isn’t replenished very quickly. The gourmet omelettes are delicious, as was the BBQ lunch. If you are looking for lots of action, this may not be the right resort for you. The entertainment was so-so and there isn’t much if a night club. The staff were helpful and friendly. If you book online, be aware their website says checkout is 1pm, but we got a phone call shortly after noon saying checkout was noon. If you manage your expectations on food, the rest of the resort is good value for the money.…
This place was amazing. Food was 10/10. The performers were amazing. I would highly recommend them all; Wagner, Nicole, Mary, Janco, Luis, chocolate, Angel (cafe haha), David, Endri… all of them were AMAZING! Highly recommend. Honestly I came with no expectations and was super blown away. I have been to many resorts here in DR but this one is by far the greatest. They had a ton of different activities; arrows, basketball, a CLUB! Honestly I would highly recommend you all come here.
I tried to email the GM and after 30 days still haven't recieved a response. I recently stayed at your Viva Wyndham V Samana - All Inclusive Resort. I've spoken to several staff members at the resort and customer care with Wyndham. I was told and per the site my reservation would cover two people. I'm a Wyndham Rewards member and per the info on the site, that's how it appeared. Upon my arrival on my birthday the 24th of February, I was treated very rude and told I owed an additional $400 for my second guest. No one cared or tried to work with me they just said I'm SORRY, you owe us $400 more dollars or you can leave. I tried requesting a $400 refund due to rate not based off a per person, per your website and you don't offer heated pools in your Bungalows as stated on your website, nor was anyone offered a free 15 min foot massage which is also listed on your website. My bed sheets/pillow cases smelled sour and needed to be replaced because they smelled like they sat overnight in water. Why would you put anything on a bed that smells sour? Viva Wyndham was not about making my birthday trip the most amazing experience where I would want to return. Certain staff truly tried to make up for the horrible birthday start but It was basically about money and the service was below average. I work in hospitality daily and service is truly what we do.…
Having stayed at several all inclusive resorts, including two other Viva Wyndhams, this is my favorite. Before staying here, my general thought process was that you could either have all inclusive amenities but have to accept hordes of people and a raucous environment, or you could stay at a standard hotel and have more space, serenity, class, and beauty….but you could not have both. Well my friends, this place somehow manages both. Historically I have tired of all inclusives after about three days. So I booked a three day stay. I ended up staying a week. The hotel occupies an impressive amount of beautiful beach front real estate. It is easy to get around, as there are no “hikes” to reach any amenity from anywhere on the property, but the property achieves this without feeling small. The design of the hotel promotes a zen feeling of space, with clean lines, modern yet timeless design, exquisite tropical landscaping with excellent upkeep, and the energy of the place is centered around the wonderful beach and pool areas. The beach is something from a postcard. Golden sand meets aquamarine waters. The constant gentle breeze breeds constant gentle waves, and the rustling of the wind through the palm fronds melds perfectly with the sound of the waves. A natural symphony. Speaking of coconut palms, mature and young alike populate the entire beach, and for that matter, the entity of coson bay. A cathedral of palms. As for creature comforts, you’ll not have to compete for a beach chair. And while on the point, the chairs are modern, clean, and quite comfortable enough for a long, Presidenté-induced snooze. In the water, note that visibility tends to be low. While there’s a fairly course, golden sand above the waterline on the beach, this gives way to an extremely fine, powder-like sand underwater. The result is a soft, sandy bottom. You won’t stub your toe on any underwater rocks or reefs here, but the gentle but persistent wave action also ensures that some amount of this fine sand remains suspended in the water. So leave your snorkel at home unless you plan on going to another spot. The food is surprisingly good. I was especially fond of the wood-fire brick oven pizza by the beach. There’s something for everyone. The pool is a focal point of the place, and it is both visually stunning and incredibly refreshing to swim in. Soft smooth jazz music often plays in this area, accentuating the urbane vibe of the place. I stayed in both a high floor room and a bottom floor room with plunge pool. Both have spacious outdoor space with comfortable chairs. You goer a better view of the beach and property from up high, but feel more cloistered with a plunge pool room thanks to the hedges that add to the privacy. It depends what you want. Overall the rooms are sufficiently modern and comfortable without breaking with the minimalist-chic vibe of the property. Perhaps what I liked the most was the long periods of silence. Which of course is not really silence, but instead incredible nature. But I loved how often there was no music blasting (esp. that techno “ooomph-oooomph” garbage) and how I could frequently luxuriate in the natural peace of the place. Don’t get me wrong, the animation squad does occasionally blast some tunes, but it’s typically limited to the context of one of their engagement events, and typically does not occupy any substantial amount of time. I cannot stress enough how important this is. The animation team is great across the board, fun and friendly folks all, who want you to have fun but also understand if you prefer to laze about. Entertainment was top notch. From live music to one of the best Michael Jackson impersonator shows I’ve ever seen (and I am a huge MJ fan), the resort does not disappoint. Personnel are extremely friendly and hard working. A special thank you to Gelso and Deter in the Le Marche dining area for always offering the best in hospitality. Jorge in the gym was always a pleasure. It should be noted that signore Alessandro di Toscana is a top chef in there, too. All in all, what more can be said? This is a phenomenal resort with excellent people from top to bottom. With new direct service from Miami to AZS Samana International (a mere 20 minute ride from airport to resort) on American Airlines, this is now in play for a weekend getaway. Of course, I shall return.…
