While staying at a nearby all-inclusive resort, someone had highly recommended this restaurant. So we decided to try it, even if all our meals at the resort were included.
It was soooo worth it! The owner Marie welcomed us as if we were part of her family! She was a wonderful host!
The restaurant is right on the beach with a beautiful space that is actually part of the boutique hotel she also operates.
As for the food, it was absolutely exquisite!
We are so happy we found this gem and would highly recommend it!

Sometimes you just have to trust your gut! I will not recommend doing this for non locals because it is too risky but we drove from santo Domingo to Las Terrenas after lunch on a Saturday over a long weekend without a room reservation on an impulse. We wanted to stay overnight beachside in lovely Playa Bonita. Hotels we had stayed before were fully booked but after enjoying bathing and eating a superb late lunch with lobster and grilled fish at Rest. Luis in Playa Cosón, Swiss pastries and expresso at Mocambo's, we finally went looking for two rooms with air conditioning and wi-fi at a reasonable price. Our search lasted 10 minutes and to say the least, we were very blessed by locating Casa Grande, a 10 room boutique hotel in a spacious property right where we wanted! Owners Pascal and Valerie had just arrived from France and accomodated all our needs and more! Continental breakfast was included and the restaurant met our expectations for lunch. Rooms are basic and ranged in size but our front #6 was huge! Everything worked! Staff was superb friendly, the garden in front of the beach was well kept and had comfortable chaise lounges. The beach was a little rough that day in front of the hotel but we were able to enjoy the available 2 person kayak just by walking one minute to a suitable entry location. Overall, a pleasant stay. NOTE If you love nature, french cuisine and the simple life, Casa Grande is for you.

We wanted to go to Samana again, but decided to give Las Terrenas a try as we had never stayed there for more than just half a day. We were not sure what place we should pick so we searched the web and read several reviews on Trip Advisor. The pictures looked beautiful, and so did the description of the hotel. We were not disappointed when we arrived. It was just as it looked on the photos. The gardens are very well maintained and the room was ready for us. We even arrived hours earlier from check-in time, and they allowed us to occupy the room that early. We soon walked to the beautiful beach, "Playa Bonita" which is just across their gardens. Roland, the hotel administrator was really friendly and helpful. He always tried to meet our needs and requests. He even found a floating board for our 5-year-old to use in the water. We were very pleased with the staff, especially Roland, a young gentleman that is fluent in multiple languages. The room was spacious with ceiling fan, air conditioner, hot water, a mini fridge, and window screens. The beds were comfortable and the view of the garden and beach absolutely beautiful. The continental free breakfast includes a bowl of fresh fruits, fresh fruit juice (we had passion fruit juice), toasted bread, pineapple jelly, coffee, and hot chocolate served at your table. We had dinner at their restaurant once, and it was really good and affordable. We recommend this hotel if you want to relax and enjoy the peace and beauty of the crystal clear beach at a very good price. Johnny & Belkis Charlotte, NC

My name is Miguelina Bisono, I stayed for New Years Eve in this hotel. On the last day, we came back 30 minutes lates for the check out so the owner decided to pick up all my personal belongings stuff them in my bag and place it in the hotel storage room. All my cloth got wet and worst of all she didnt admit she did something wrong. It was a lack of respect , I felt infuriated, angry and diaspointed. I could not believe this kind of things could happen in a place where you are supposed to feel secure. This is not a good option to travel to there are plenty of hotels in the area with much better service than this.

We arrived at Casa Grande and were told they have no room for us. We had a reservation for 3 nights, confirmed by an email from the hotel, that we had with us, as well as by phone. They have not denied the validity of our reservation, which they had in their records. We interacted with the owner of the place who was rude and kept lying about "wonderful alternatives" for us on Playa Bonita while the reality was that no hotel at that site had available rooms. They ruined our vacation.

Unlike some hotels in the Las Terrenas area, Casa Grande allows dogs to roam freely on the grounds, off-leash. So dog-owners seem to flock to this place, and at various times in the day there can be packs of them, virtually out of control. I was attacked by two dogs in the afternoon of Nov. 30, 2012, while walking back from a swim beyond the point. I was badly bitten in the left calf by one of them. The dog owners were staying at the Casa Grande, and were lounging on the chairs beside the beach promenade. They did absolutely nothing to help me, although they could plainly see the blood streaming down my leg. This speaks volumes about the type of people staying at the Casa Grande. I would never go near the place again.

Playa Bonita is difficult to get to but well worth it if you desire a placid, undisturbed and rustic beach. This small hotel has a wonderful relaxed ambiance and excellent value including delicious bkfst. Excellent restaurant. Rooms are simple, have privacy, but not much hot water. With my 10y old daughter, we were looking for some activity and the hotel manager, Marie had any supplies we could ask for including ocean kayaks, lifejackets, boogieboards, wetsuits, snorkel gear, board games. She and the majority of her guests are French and she initially was aloof b/c we're American but did warm up to us and then went out of her way to give us a ride into town, arranged our transport to airport. We enjoyed hiking to other beaches, getting motorcycle "taxi" rides,El Limon waterfall is a must!

This hotel was recommended so we made a reservation for three nights. The best (only) good thing I can say about this place is that the food is good, which is an exception in the DR. The curtains in the room were torn with holes, the fixtures in the bathroom were hanging by a thread, the towel bar collapsed when you put any weight on it. The overhead ceiling fan rumbled. There were no blankets. We paid $120 a night and it was a dump. The beach in front of the hotel is nice but the water is so rough you really can't swim in it. Not to mention that it's on a road that is practically impassable by car. Go someplace else! The people who run the place also tried to rip us off by handing me a bill that was 30% overcharged. His comment to me when I questioned him about the amount was "Oh, I guess I made a mistake." Unfortunately for him, I speak French.

Casa Grande is located right at one of the most beautiful beaches in Samana. The staff is attentive and helpful, and the breakfast very nice. It has a wonderful garden which is lovely for reading or hanging out. The rooms are simple and the showers a bit strange, but all clean, decent and originally decorated. I can recommend this place!

This is my second review of this place. The first one was not published. Had pix and everything. My biggest complaint is that it is overpriced for what it is. It's dilapidated. I'll post pix when this get's posted.
