The Pestana Grand is one of the best and most prestigious 5-start hotels in Funchal, Madeira and sits upon the Ponta da Cruz cliff with a view of the oceans and Cabo Girão. It is only 30 minutes on foot from Formosa beach and has direct access to Promenade do Lido, the famous promenade in Madeira. Surrounded by magnificent gardens is the island's largest outdoor saltwater swimming pool with views of the sea. The hotel has a Spa, with a Jacuzzi, sauna, gym, Turkish bath and even a panoramic indoor swimming pool, in addition to massages and/or spa treatments. For dining, guests can enjoy four restaurants and two bars. If you bring your family, the little ones can play in the lounge or the garden with a game zone. There is a free private car park (subject to availability). All rooms are spacious and bright, include Wi-Fi and have private balconies.

Excellent 5 star hotel just outside Funchal Madeira. Location is perfect on the prom with the best views, so book a sea view rather than garden room. All the staff were super pleasant and happy to help us. Madeiran people are some of the nicest we have met in all Europe. We loved the additional 3 restaurants along side the main buffet, the pool and landscaped gardens give it great setting. Extra special thanks to super efficient Sara on reception who made my 65th birthday so memorable for me and my wife, she was a real star. Please note the waiter/waitresses are all very good, as were the chambermaids who rescued our stuff left back in the room and also Jacqueline on reception made our stay so great. We will come back here next year ... or even sooner if we can. Management should look after this hotel and the staff who run it, we LOVED it all.…

My partner and I returned to Pestana Grand and Madeira for our third visit since 2019 - it could have been the fifth if not for lockdown in 2020 & 2021! We were not disappointed at all. Apart from the wonderful location, beautiful gardens and comfortable accommodation, what drew us back was the hospitality. Because of our very early flight we arrived mid morning while other guests were still checking out but Reception kindly checked us in. We also had a pleasant surprise to find a welcome-back note with a bottle of Madeira wine and a Madeira cake. Such a lovely touch!

We were happy to be back after a few years and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. When my husband needed to visit a Dr the guest relations staff were incredibly helpful, even though they should have finished their day 30 minutes before and all the staff we met were courteous and very helpful;. We had a delightful week as a guest of a Vacation club member. The suite was very well appointed, well equipped and comfortable. All the staff were friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. All the Club Relations staff, especially Monica, went the extra mile to make us feel welcome.

Perfect location overlooking sea. Lovely hotel with beautifully kept gardens and friendly staff. Nearby Forum shopping centre with large supermarket as well as designer shops. Number 2 bus outside hotel into centre for couple of euros and are frequent. Taxis roughly 10 euros.
