Great service at the resort and the staff are amazing. You can see them cleaning thoroughly throughout the hotel. Even on the beach the locals are awesome. Naldo and Bryan sell awesome bags and dresses. Junita and Sushi give amazing massges on the beach and they make sure everything is cleaned properly prior to your appointment. Jorge , Miguel and Roberto were awesome with the ATV’s . Miguel showed us awesome spots and even provided some historical context on various locations along our route. Also Ani takes amazing pictures while at the resort . Overall a great experience would definitely return.

We checked in went up to our room before entering you could smell the mold and mildew outside the room. Inside the room it got worse. The mattresses had black mold on them I pulled the sheets up to inspect. The mold was everywhere. I complained to the front desk Jocelyn was super nice and moved us to another room. Unfortunately room 2 same problem. Did they eat these mattresses from a wet old dump? Again Jocelyn was excellent about apologizing and moving us. Room 3 same problem. This time we had to wait it out overnight to find a room. By this time I had asked to be moved to another hotel. They assured me they could make it right. 4th room was beautiful clean no mold. Wasted valuable vacation time. Was so tired and disappointed. The rest of the trip was fine but I cst et over the fact that they expect people to enjoy their. Jolted with the strong smell of mold and mildew. Heart broken because the place was beautiful with a deadly secret.

Upon arrival I assume the clerk was new or did not care as made several errors checking us in what should not of taking 25 minutes with no waiting in line and pre register the day before. Room was to have 2 beds did not, return to desk and was told would send someone to split the bed.and to wait in the room. 4hours for someone. to show up only after I checked and housekeeping wanted to move me. I said no as While waiting 4hours everything was unpacked and was not going to repack and unpack. The safe did not work that was another trip to the front desk and advised would send someone down t o fix. That took 25 minutes, however over the next 2 days they kept calling asking if I would be available to come fix the safe I advised it has been fixed. On day 2 housekeeping called wanting to make arrangements to split the beds I also advised them that was done the first night after waiting for them for 4 hours. I made a 3rd trip to the front desk to let them know 2 lights were out one was in the shower so at night time your shower was in the dark. Day 3 they came to fix the 2 lights, Light 1 was above next to bed they had to take off Wall to repair and recalk Was told not to use until the next. The shower light was replaced. Later that blew out with all the lights in the bathroom area. I gave up and checked out early the next day and reserved elsewhere. The food on I would rate a 1.5 just above terrible. The drinks well needed I would give a 5. Pool area was dirty. They charge for covid test which you need to take 3 days before. They advised me they were given to me5 days before, I said to early. they told me not to worry as the will just date it later to comply orI would have to wait and pay more 130 each rather then 60. Need I say more about their covid standard at the RIU.

Dear 926melviny, Thank you very much for choosing Riu and for sharing your opinion. We are sorry for the issues you describe in your review and that this made you shorten your stay. We are disappointed to learn that we were not to convince you as this is certainly not the impression we would like to pass on to our guests and not representative of our standards. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience. Regarding the food and drinks, we understand that this is one of the most important aspects in an all-inclusive hotel. Therefore, it is very disappointing to read that we could not reach your personal taste on this occasion. Your words will be taken into account as we constantly strive to improve our guest’s service. We regret to hear that you got the impression that our pools are not properly cleaned. Rest assured that as a part of our strict anti Covid-19 protocol, all our pools are being cleaned frequently using the appropriate water disinfection. We sincerely hope that you would still consider staying with us in the future and give us a chance to deliver a more enjoyable experience We wish you all the best, Hotel Riu Palace Costa Rica Online Reputation Manager

Great place to relax, re-charge, and enjoy your vacation. We stayed for a week and had a great time. The hotel is very secluded, clean and the staff is friendly and accomodating. They provide a good selection of food and the coffee is really good. We recommend the sunset cruise, it was very relaxing. The cruise provides drinks and a light dinner. They take you to a nice beach, but the best part is the great view of the sunset. Also, the massage close to the beach (not part of the hotel) was amazing! The locals run it and the price was reasonable. Near the beach, you can find monkeys! We felt very safe at this hotel because the staff took precautions to avoid the spread of COVID. The rooms were very comfortable. Other recommendations: Visiting Coco Beach (30 minutes), Llanos de Cortez Waterfall (1 hour away), The town of Tamarindo (1 hour away), and Diamante Eco Adventure Park. Hope you enjoy your trip!
