We have traveled all over the world and prefer bed and breakfast accommodations for the folks we meet- this is by far the best one we have ever encountered! Our hosts were so friendly, the fresh eggs and plums so delicious, the six o'clock wine and cheese so fabulous that we were reluctant to leave. Our room was spacious and...

We stayed in Birch Room in this Edwardian villa. Karen welcomed us and we joined other guests for cheese and wine on the terrace to rear of the property which is a nightly occurrence there if wanted. We enjoyed chatting and felt it was a good oortunity to meet fellow guests and hear a little about New Zealand and its...

Stayed two nights while exploring wineries of Hawkes Bay. Very welcoming new owners, Karen and Danny. Lovely gardens, fully equipped room. Very tasty spread to introduce the guests to each other at 6 o'clock. Top quality breakfast with local produce including fruit. We felt that nothing was too much trouble. Recommended stopping place for this area.

My husband and I were enjoying our 7 week exploration of the North and South Islands when we arrived at Hawthorne House toward the end of our trip. Not only were the accommodations first class, our hosts made us feel extremely welcome. Their knowledge of the area and gourmet breakfasts enhanced our experience. Restaurants in the area were closed for...

A lovely place, beautiful rooms and our hosts Karen and Denny were very welcoming, they treated you as friends. Especially the 6 o'clock wine and cheese moment was such a nice experience ! We really enjoyed our stay, just one remark about some thing which could be improved to my meaning, a bit more choice at breakfast.

We have recently stayed at Hawthorne House, which has been run by Karen and Danny for some 12 weeks. They made us most welcome and gave us some good tips for our stay. The house has an interesting history and our room was nicely set up. Before dinner, drinks and cheese and biscuits are served on the terrace and this...

A hugely enjoyable experience, Karen and Denny treating us like valued old friends, visiting for a couple of days, rather than just paying customers. Should you find yourself in Hastings we would recommend a stay at Hawthorne House, without hesitation.

From the moment you drive down the tree lined entrance to the moment when you regretfully are waved goodbye by the owners you are made to feel very special. The new owners Karen and Danny go that extra mile for you. Their home is stunning ..an Edwardian mansion which is furnished with style like a country house...and a beautiful garden...
