Great location and the room overlooking the bay was clean but a little dated in its furnishings and fittings. The staff seemed generally indifferent with one exception. The restaurant dinner was average but the biggest joke is what The Russel calls its Continental breakfast, tea or coffee tinned pears, diy toast and juice and that's about it!, if you want...

Arriving for our Honeymoon on New Year's Eve after a long flight and drive we were excited to arrive at The Duke having seen all it's hype. We had booked well in advance for the dinner and were looking forward to the New Years celebrations. Our room was dated and looked over the car park but it was clean and...

The welcome of the staff, and how they look after you, is great. The place is very clean. The views for the terrace are wonderful. The location is very close to the ferry and therefore, the local holiday sights. The restaurant is excellent and reasonably priced. I strongly suggest the 6hr cooked lamb. They suggest for two but we stretched...

We are so glad that our host at the Abilene Motel in Kerikeri recommended the Duke for lunch. After a short and pleasant boat ride to Russell from Paihia, The Duke was a very short walk from the pier. We sat in the outdoor (but enclosed) veranda and had a lovely view of the harbour. We shared two orders of...

It would be difficult to find a more idyllic spot for dinner on the terrace. A great view, enough shade, adequate menu and wine list with a very friendly staff. I hope I get the opportunity to go back. Trip Advisor says I must write more so hopefully there are enough words now

Stayed in a studio room which overlooked the historic Police station.Had views of Russell hill.Room was what we wanted for our overnight stay, clean and tidy. The bathroom was small but adequate, water pressure in shower was the best I have had in any hotel. Breakfast on the verandah overlooking the bay was just what the doctor ordered.Great view.

Based on personal recommendations we have chosen the Duke of Marlborough for a weekend stay in the Bay of Islands. Fantastic choice, the hotel breathes historical atmosphere in the best sense, very authentic building, well looked after by the friendly staff. The terrace is used not only for romantic dinner, but also for the breakfast. A big difference compared to...

Wow! What a great venue for lunch. Food was really good and the prices fair, but the view and location is incredible. If you're ever in Russell be show to stop in here for a beer. It's right on the beach front!!!
