Sitting outside the our the Waterfront Apartment having a beer watching the sunset after a days fishing was the perfect Easter break. Our room was spacious located right on the waterfront. We spent the evenings sitting on the deck enjoying the view and relaxed atmosphere. On our first night we ate the restaurant, food was excellent and staff very friendly....

The best meal we had in NZ. Arrived a bit early but they accommodated us and the food was first class. Lovely setting outside on the terrace. Efficient staff so we caught the earlier ferry back to Paihia.

Staff extremely friendly & efficient especially Kathie from Sydney who was delightful and most helpful You need to change the menu more often or have other dishes on for people who are not seafood alcoholics for both starters & mains The free wifi needs upgrading, not good enough by far

While staying in Pahia, we took a day trip here, such a cute historic place. I had thought the Duke restaurant might be overrated, but no we had a great table outside where we could enjoy the sea views and the meal was simply stunning, washed down with a very good rosé. The kind of place you can just relax...

Upstairs down one of the corridors was Maori females with moko kauae (chin tatto) which I don't find disturbing and love them but it appears their eyes were closed which sort of looks like they were dead. The Ta moko for the males (e.g. Goldie) looks great but when I went into the room and saw tatto faces e.g on...

After a romantic ferry crossing from Pahia - how could you expect the evening to get even better. It did!!! Now we like lamb - but try their slow cooked shoulder and you'll be spoilt for ever - words fail me. Preceded by the crunchiest peppered squid- and accompanied by the Australian Yalumba ( its OK the loveliest French waiter...

The Duke of Marlborough Hotel in the charming Russell is full of colourful history and charm. The 185+year old establishment is a must visit to the Bay of Islands. The staff very knowledgable and friendly. Very convenient to ferry and everything Russell has to offer. It is an inspiring, beautiful building. Our dinner was fabulous.

We spent a very pleasant morning browsing Russell and were looking forward to a good lunch at the Duke of Marlborough. The hotel benefits from an amazing location by the water. We were fortunate to get a table on the veranda overlooking the bay . Unfortunately the service was slow the staff forgetful and the meals when they eventually arrived were...

A wonderful hotel in a superb setting. Nothing was too much for the staff and we had a brilliant stay. The room was clean and tidy with a sea view. Food was excellent - the roast lamb was succullent. This is a must stay place!
