Hotel itself is well located and appointed but our stay was ruined by the man at reception who was rude and objectionable. Because of this I wouldn't stay there again or recommend the hotel to others.

Experienced a delightful dinner with a beautiful sea view. Our meal was light and fresh as requested. Beautiful wine which we enjoyed. The outdoor decking was covered and warm which pleased us as it was a cool evening.

We had been advised that this restaurant was excellent by previous travelers. We were lucky enough to score a seat on the veranda with nice bay views, and the chance for some fun "people watching" along the promenade. Our service was very good and the food selections are nicely curated with an emphasis to fish. So, this is what we...

A good sized waterfront room. Well equipped with a lovely bath and a comfortable bed. The meal we had in the hotel restaurant was great. Staff throughout the hotel were friendly. The hotel was very clean and we enjoyed our stay.

Looking forward to staying at The Duke of Marlborough having heard good reviews within a great location steeped in history and on first impressions this hotel looked pretty ok. The room (9) we were given overlooked the side access and a glimpse of the inlet if you opened the window. I would say our room could do with having some...

The location, the staff, the incredible food. Thank you for creating an unforgettable evening to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The Duke holds a special place in our heart. We highly recommend everyone to visit for dinner or just to sit on the deck with a glass of wine and soak up the view.

We stayed a night here. Room was basic but lovely in such a historical building, and had amenities that we needed. The restaurant had fantastic food and service. Great location being on the waterfront and right in the township.

You can see the "Duke" as you arrive at the passenger ferry jetty so it's only a few steps away once you get off. It's claim to fame is being the oldest licensed hotel in NZ and it has a colonial appearance with wide veranda as well as some tables on the grass verge opposite overlooking the bay (although the...

Old place with some interesting quirky bits. After check in and being taken to our room the reception lady informed us that the rooms were being slowly renovated. We had a small room overlooking the car park. Queen bed air con and little en suite with a bizarre tap for the sink which makes for some interesting washing. Bar and...

Fantastic location with one of the best evening views you could find. Enjoy a drink in the evening with a beautiful sunset you'll find anywhere in the world. Nice little town too. However the Duke of Marlborough is a very tired building. Even its charm is overpowered by the desperate need of a refurb. Also food not great choice and...
