Most friendliest, prettiest and well organised backpackers I've ever been to. No bunk beds, the house is stunning and it's set up for cosy fun. Not too expensive, close to everything. Beat my expectations multiple times.

I had a private room which when a friend came and had the other bed in it we were given dorm rate. Well equipped kitchen , free breakfast , cereal , toast jam and if the hens are laying a freshly laid free range egg. Good hot water , clean bathrooms , friendly atmosphere , friendly staff, free use of...

great place with lots of awesome people there was a really good community feel to it where everyone helped each other out. There was a good price with lots of extras I didn't expect. Such as the free breakfast which was nice.

I have stayed in many backpackers around NZ and this was, by far, the worst. It is true that it is well located but it's on a hill, which is not very convenient if you are travelling with a big suitcase or a backpack. When I finally got to the reception completely exhausted, the receptionist told me that they had...

It's a big house that overlooks the town center. There are only real beds in the female dorm, no bunks here! I had some of the best nights sleep here. The room is big and has power sockets and hooks. The bathrooms are descent but could use a bit more cleaning. The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful ...no...

This hostel should perhaps be used as the blueprint for other hostels around the world. The property, which is a character home and a hill, features three buildings, lots of patios, and a seemingly infinite number of rooms. It feels like massive but also small at the same time. Staff are awesome, very friendly and willing to help. I would...

The staff is especially friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and still reasonably priced. Lovely location on top of a hill; a colourful and happy place - rain or shine. Don't miss a night at the spring and fern with the whisky priest!

This is the best hostel I have ever been to, for many reasons. The place itself is incredible, it really is a palace in its own way. It feels private because it is on its own little hill, surrounded by gardens, but it is actually just a few blocks away from one of the best areas of town. The staff was...

I cannot go into enough detail to express how much i enjoyed my stay here at The Palace. After being stranded in nelson, i was lost, tired and worried. After one call to the palace all these feelings went away. A kind gentleman (didnt catch your name but thank you so much!) picked me up and took me to the...

I am currently staying in this hostel, unfortunately only for one night! - but I already LOVE it and wish I could be staying here longer. The location is perfect and it just has the most quirky, homely character. Unlike most backpackers, it is quiet (so far), clean, and everyone is friendly and relaxed (although I suppose that is the...
